this key has a chip in it-so you have to go to HONDA to have it cloned-about 25 bucks-no other way possible to copy the key

They will copy any key that does not say, "Do Not Duplicate". They only other reason they might not be able to would be if it's a high security key. Retail stores can not get the key blanks for those types of locks. An example of one might be a entry key to a store vault, a entry key to a managers office, a key to a business. Regular retail stores don't even have a way to order them so they wouldn't be able to cut something they don't have. If they open at 6:00, they are ready for business including key cutting. And by the way, just to let you know, putting a piece of masking tape over a key that says Do Not Duplicate doesn't work.

Your key probably has a micro chip integrated into the key for security reasons. In this case you will have to go to a Honda dealership to get one cut and programmed.

Certin keys have a sercity chip in them so places like home depot can not copy them. If the black part at the top of your key is really big you probly have a chip. If you have a chip you have to go to the dealer to get a key. If you don't have a key you should go to kmart they copyed my key.

Go to or call a HONDA dealership. You might want to have the VIN # handy. If it does have a "chip" in it, then it might be a bit more expensive then just getting a normal key made.

have to go to honda dealer.

use to own a 2001 civic and had to make another copy of the key. it took less than 5 min for them (honda) to make it.

kind of expensive though. cost me $48. but that's still lower than some dealer making for their cars.

Have to go to the Honda dealer for this. It is the only way, regardless of what other people say.

Don't call or go to dealer. If you don't have extra time to spend just go to the closest Home Depot store. They make key copies for low prices.

you will need to get 1 done @ the dealership. as those keys have a little chip inside.
