Is blind belief a sin?

Since God gave us brains and reasoning ability doesn't He expect us to use that ability? Isn't not doing so and just accepting something blindly (bible, words of preacher, vatican statements, etc) telling God that He was wrong to give us reasoning ability?

If one had faith in God and acknowledged that God is the true source of all man's gifts (ex: our reasoning ability), then there wouldnt be any need for questioning. And you would not be blind.

Probably not. (I've been taught that a sin is breaking the laws of god... and nowhere is it written thou shalt believe in me blindly.)

You've confused a property of belief. Belief is not an elixir in a bottle that you can pass around. There is no hustler with an illegal bottle of "blind belief". Belief is really more a personal thing. I think its really hard to say "oh hey, look, your actions represent blind belief" or "your so unblind!".

It would also seem cold of god to just desire you believe in things blindly. I think if he is as divine and as loving as he says, then he probably knows us pretty well. He knows whats hard for us to believe, and whats easy. And Jesus says to talk to god constantly (Pray), which implies a conversation, a friendship, and a RELATIONSHIP, which involves one of us saying sometimes "Thats dumb!" or at other times... "Your brilliant". And sometimes it can be him telling us either. So no matter how hard we try, it's simply impossible to not have an opinion about what we feel god tells us to do.

Christianity says it isn't. It should be though. I don't believe in sin but I think blind belief is just wrong on all counts.

not according to the faith preachers. That's exactly what they expect if you want to be a good christian.

Apparently 'Doubting Thomas' was a bad character.

We evolved into our brains. Not that that is anything to brag about taking a look around here.

There is no such thing as sin, but it is a sure sign of gullibility.
