Do I have to use vista to run DirectX 10?

I want to buy a new graphics card that supports DX10, but I don't want to upgrade to Vista until I absolutely have to.

vista is the only one that supports dx10..the card will run fine on xp,,itll just run in dx9

DX10 games will run fine, just in dx9 mode

i run xp with a radeon 3850 (dx10.1) and they all run fine

wikipedia can be edited by anybody..it is not the gospel truth about anything

Just becuase the graphics card supports DX10 does'nt mean you need to upgrade to Vista. But, if you want to play video games that run on DX10 then you will need to upgrade. Many of the new video games are now running on DX10 (my guess is that it's a marketing ploy from microsoft)

Yes, Vista is the only OS to have DX10.

Why don't you want to upgrade to vista? as long as you have a multicore processor and at least 3GB of RAM, then the PC should run like a dream.

People only have problems with vista if they install it on older pc's with less then 1GB of RAM.
