About how long would it take to sober up..?
My friends parents had about 5 cans of "Mai Tai" (I think) rum each. How long would it take for them to sober up, approx?

it really depends from person to person. some people can handle a lot, some can't. some sober up quickly, some don't. i don't think it really has to do with body mass or anything like that, because i weigh about 90lbs and i have high tolerance and sober up quickly as well. it helps to drink a lot of water and eat some bread to soak up the alcohol. do you not want your friend's parents to sober up? lol don't count on them being passed out or something, it's unpredictable

Check out this website listed.
How soon you sober up (so, reach below 0.08 BAC in the US to be able to drive) depends on your height, weight, muscle to fat ratio, your metabolism, the number of standard drinks you've had, and in what period of time you've consumed them.
Only time can sober people up! Consuming non-alcoholic drinks, like coffee / red bull, eating (before or after), exercising or resting, may make you feel more alert and 'sober', but is not removing the alcohol from the bloodstream.
Generally speaking, the 'average' man, to be safe to drive, can have two standard drinks in the first hour, and one every hour thereafter. The 'average' woman can have one in the first hour, and one each hour thereafter. So five standard cans - 1.5 drinks in each = 7.5 hours (women, 6.5 for men), but I'd say 9 or 10 hours to be safe.
