Do you think before you speak ?

Isn't speech just an externalization of thought?

Even if one talks nonsense, there was a mental impulse, first, that prompted the verbal display regardless of its quality. I don't see how speech could precede the thoughts it's representing.

Any time I say something hurtful or stupid it's because my mouth took off before my brain. I make every effort to think first, even though I may be slow to respond. A second of thought can eliminate days of apologies.

Sometimes. I am a woman and my feelings overrule everything so sometimes I speak on impulse because I'm feeling so much.

i have to admit i've said some pretty stupid things back in the day! all of which could have been avoided if my brain worked before my tongue! but i'm working on that now.

No! Sometimes I blurt out something like a secret and get in a fight with my best friends.

it's always better to... with personal friends, i tend to say what's on my mind. they appreciate the honesty more, and would be less offended cuz of the friendship. for strangers/work, it's better to think a bit; that way you would say the same thing in a less offensive way to ease conflict....

actually , i dont ....usually. but that is the main reason i tell people that sometimes "my mouth writes checks my a s s can't cash"!
