For baking always use unsalted butter. Most recipes call for added salt and you don't want your yummies to salty. The best butter comes from local dairies or Holland imports...don't scrimp on the butter it will turn good bake goods into gourmet...your mouth will be so very grateful...also high quality eggs will greatly influence the taste as well. Happy Holidays.

I always cook with real butter. As a special treat, I'll make butter from scratch, which will really make sauces and soups taste way better!! It also good on toast. I prefer unsalted, and sometimes I'll add honey to the homemade stuff.

    Here is a recipe

Put a pint of heavy whipping cream into an electric mixer bowl. Beat on high with the whip attachment until the whipped cream is way over-beaten (about 20 minutes).

Put the butter into a clean, lint-free towel and rinse it with cold water. Keep squeezing out the water and rinsing until the water runs clear (it takes about three rinsing).

Squeeze any excess water out and that's all there is to it.

I use them both, the only thing I do different when I buy the salted butter is not use as much salt that the recipe calls for. I bake cakes and cookies and give them as XMAS presents.

I always use Salted Butter because I put it on everything -

I never eat Margarine which is a Hydrogenated Plastic made of Trans Fats which give you a Heart attack.

  • I use unsalted because if the dish need salt, it can be added later; but if it doesn't and salted butter is used, the dish might taste odd.

    GOD, I LOVE BUTTER!!!

I use lightly salted butter for all recipes.

Martha Stewart uses unsalted butter for baked goods, butter (no preference) for cooking.
