Pantera, overrated or not?

when Dimebag got shot Pantera were no more. Dimebag and Vinnie Paul were playing in a band called Damageplan when the shooting occured. Pantera were never overrated, some of the music they produced was brilliant, check out A Vulgar Display Of Power and Far Beyond Driven. i seen them live on a few occasions and they totally blew me away every time.

Dimebag is a legend, when he got killed the metal world lost one of its great shining lights. R.I.P.

Roll back the clock to 1993, and they were definitely a force to be reckoned with. Phil Anselmo was at his prime, and they had some good songs. Then, just as did Metallica, they eventually began to wallow in mediocrity and "believe their own hype", so to speak, and other bands emerged that were better.

I would never bother to buy their "greatest hits" but "Vulgar Display of Power" is still in my CD collection 15 years after I bought it for a reason - it kicks major azz.

What are you talking about? Pantera was popular even before Dimebag's death. And no, I don't think they're overrated.

You never seen a PANTERA CONCERT...I have been to atleast 10 and the first was the best ....Dime was and will be the coolest person you could have ever met !!! No way overrated but were starting to get like Metallica thats prob. why they split up ...So they dont get overrated..

No, I don't think they are overrated because Dimebag got shot. They were and always will be one of the best!

Are you kidding me?! I can't really say anything new here. I think everyone else has got it covered. I would assume you are too young to have been around when Pantera was together to ask such a question.

dude every bands get on its peak when it over hyped and overrated, by fans and most important by the media mediocrisy. question to get out of that hype ****, Pantera, somehow managed to get out of own "we are the best band on earth". but not completely. I love some of them songs, not all

If you ever saw them live in the late 90s, you wouldnt even ask this question. They were so far beyond anything else that was out there, and seeing them onstage was intense. Sweatiest bloodiest loudest wildest shows I have ever been to.

I think they are a little overrated.

But i still love them.
