Wouldn't today have been the perfect day for the Winter Classic game?
I was thinking about how no good sports games were on today(or really any) yet everyone was home in front of the TV. I bet alot of people would of tuned into it at a 1pm est start time compared to how it will be New Years day with all the College football games competing with the slot time.
Basketball is no big deal, but if Hockey started at 1pm, an hour earlier than those crappy basketball games, they could of really gained a good audience with full attention.

I AGREE with you 100% after watching my kids rip open their gifts, then cleaning up, putting on 10 pounds after eating. I sat in front of my TV hoping for 1 hockey game, but nothing. I would have LOVED too see the Winter Classic on today. Oh well.

It'd be great, but I'd rather have the players spend time w/family. You can always watch youtube for classics.
They could play an exhibition game and air it on Xmas.

I agree. It's only one team playing-hell, the NBA plays 2 or 3 every XMas. Also, you don't have the competition of NCAA Football Bowl Day. Great idea actually. It would "sell the game" a little. Ratings would be through the roof.
Should be starting the 3rd period right now. Tied 3-3.

I have to disagree with you on this one. A lot of people are gone Christmas day to visit with family so I highly doubt there would be a big audience watching if it was on. It doesn't really matter that it is competing with college football because it's the winter classic...not to hard to pick between college football and the winter classic.

Not really, the NHL players should get to celebrate Christmas with their families as well. By the idea of nothing else going on I agree. As I said though there is no reason to take them away from their family.

I disagree. The NHL has had a Christmas break since 1972. They do this so the players can spend with their families for the holiday.
