    Anyone can bring thier laptop.

Wireless internet is dependant on which camp you are on. The larger camps (Liberty, Taji) have wireless internet in billiting areas, but you have to pay for it.

Yep.. We can have our own laptops..you can even buy them over here. although my internet is strung through a cable... but it was wireless when we still had the router..

Set up is a pain though, pricing is usually around 1500 - 2500 dollars the first month for equipment and whatnot.. takes abit to get the satellite dish.. and the wiring, routers, and all of that.. sometimes its not the best.

Then the monthly pricing *depends on the package you purchase * but its right around 1000 dollars a month for the guys in my barracks, now we have 2 systems run by two different people, but each person pays 100 dollars a month for it.

Quality - some days its good, some days its not.. its usually alright.. just dont expect to download much off of it..because the ISP's put download caps in place to a certain level each month depending on what package you purchase..

    that about covers it...

As stated, while I am sitting in my barracks room in Iraq, Yes you can bring your own laptop. The Internet is available but at a price. I believe it is well worth it when you want to stay in touch with family back home. I would recommend you bring a very large Ziploc bag with you to protect your laptop when your not using it. Even though I put mine in the leather bag it came with those sandstorms will still get into it, It's the darn-est thing

yes, they can take them. Their is internet over there and in some areas you can have your own connection however it take awhile to set up and is very costly. Not all camps or fob's have internet. Some do have computers that one can use but there are time limits and restrictions on what one can do on the computers provided. There are also service providers that one can take their laptop and just connect on the providers connection but you have to pay for the time you use it. Either way one does it, service is NOT great, it goes in and out and sometimes is not always on.

Wireless is available on some bases, but not all. As for laptops, yes you can bring them. There are places on every base where people can get online, with their own or a public laptop, and you can spend as much time as you have available there, if you wish.

My brother had his laptop and a webcam set up in his barracks at Camp Liberty. I did video-chats with him quite a bit during his tour. I think he did have to pay for his wi-fi but I'm not 100% positive about that.

I doubt they have wireless internet, unless they are paying for it directly.

I know of several soldiers that have brought their lap top computers. I'm sure there are some restrictions on their use.

there is something called oifnet that was supposed to be free wireless but not all camps had it. there is a isp that you can get while over there but it was pricey and you had to purchase a small satellite dish.
