Can I use the Verizon equivalent of the AT&T Tilt(TM) or the Verizon Wireless XV6800 with Cingular?

My friend has the older version of the Verizon Wireless XV6800 (bout a year old). I know that whoever makes this phone made one pretty much identical to the one that Cingular has.

My question is can I buy my friend's phone, that is on the Verizon network, then switch out SIM cards or do something to have it work on for me on Cingular?

Unfortunately it wont work. Verizon and Cingular are on totally different networks that are not compadible with each other. Verizon is on the CDMA network and Cingular is GSM. Even an unlocked verizon phone will not work.

No, you can't. Verizon wireless' network uses CDMA technology, while AT&T does not. So you won't be able to do that as Verizon's phones don't use SIM cards.
