I need an inspirational saying for a plaque for a rescue?!?

Okay so in Feb, a few volunteers and foster parents are throwing a suprise celebration for the 2 founders of the rescue I volunteer for. We are having it ina banquet room and we are going to play a video ( with pictures and vidoes from events and dogs we've adopted) and have food! We are inviting all adopters, volunteers and foster parents. We are going to present the 2 founders with a plaque for the rescue's work done in the 2007 year.

does anybody know anything that we could have put on the plaque?

Update:

great ideas, I love the starfish idea though.

I need something for the plaque to say though.

somehting like "thanks for your dedication and hardwork in the community...."

Update 2:

it's just like a thank you plaque. with the rescue's name and somehting small. Like a sentence.

Update 3:

*cave* we are using the starfish story to present the plaque ~~~~~ it's such a great little story and at the bottom we are going to put the "just one makes a difference " quote...

    What size plaque????

Follow my link to a plaque I created ... sorry it took so long...

The basic text I created is:

Licks and wags and wiggles ....

for all the fine Packs you found for us.

    . . . . . . from all your rescued pets

Hugs and smiles and many thanks...

for all the wonderful animals you rescued for us

for all the unconditional love and joy that they

    have brought to our live.

. . . . from the families who adopted your rescues

I know you got talked into the other... which is beautiful...

but I still think this is worth your consideration and you can always give her two palques... if you wish... so I hope this challenges you and gives you another alternative that's hard to refuse...

Go look at the jpg at photobucket... I changed the text just a little

Ooh, put the starfish story on there if you can fit it! I love that one!

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”

The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”

“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!”

After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…”I made a difference for that one.”

Edit: Hmm...maybe you could use the starfish story at some time during the presentation then? And on the plaque, you could have a little engraved picture of a starfish and it could say "I made a difference for that one." I don't know, just throwing random ideas out here. :-)

Is it a breed specific rescue?

I am a lab rescue volunteer and one of our mottos is:

"In a perfect world, every lab has a home and every home has a lab."

"I have the greatest respect for those kind souls who rescue and foster these forgotten, discarded animals who are not as lucky as my Marley was. They are giving them a second chance at the life every dog deserves." John Grogan - author of Marley and Me

    The Rescuer's Creed:

I shall be a believer of all that is good in man and of all that is deserving in animals. I shall plead for their lives, campaign for their safety, and uphold their right to a natural death. I shall seek out the injured and the maimed, the unloved, and the abandoned and tend to them in their last days. I shall not forget their place in the hierarchy of life, nor that we walk in each other's paths. I shall bear witness to the wonder they bring into our lives and to the beauty they bestow upon our souls. I shall renew their spirits when they are waning, bind their wounds when they bleed, cradle them when they whimper, and comfort them when they mourn. I shall be near them in their hour of greatest need - a companion and friend when the time has come. I shall watch over them and console them and ask that the angels gather them in their arms. From the creatures of the earth I shall learn the fruits of compassion and undying love, and I shall be called the beloved of God. In their company I shall indeed be blessed. ~ Susan M. Pearson

I have two that I like...

    1. Better to light a candle for one lost animal than to curse the darkness of man's indifference. Until there are none ... rescue one.

    2. Saving just one animal won't change the world, but it surely will change the world for that one animal.

Source(s): I see these at the bottom of emails sent to me by people in a rescue ring that I belong to. I cannot take credit for them and I do not know who the original authors are...

Sticking with the starfish theme, how about:

    "Remember the starfish"
