That is not true. Building up your muscles should not affect your height at all.

Yes. It is true. LOL I'm a girl, and I used to work out at 6th grade. After that, I only grew like 5 inches. I'm considered really short now in school.

The scientific reason why it stops growth when you work out at a young age is that, when a kid work out and grow muscles, the muscle weighs down the bone and gives your bones a harder time to grow.

    Hope that helped :)

what? who the world said that? even if you stood under a metal beam that touched the top of your head, painfully, but you would still get taller, and no hanging from a bar will not make you taller either.. lol keep using the dumbells and get ripped, so then one day you'll be in muscle mags and it won't matter if your tall or not...LOL

No, this is completely a myth. There is no scientific data that suggests this. Strength training improves the bone mass density of children and adolescents. It has been found that children as young as 6 years old can safely weight train with no negative effects.

As long as you are safe in your training and have healthy intake of calcium and other nutrients you should be fine.

NO! that is complete and utter nonsense! you will only be as tall as is written in your genetics passed down by your parents, grandparents, great grandparents ect... there are many fitness myths circulating around these days so always, always, ask a professional about these things...lucky for you, i happen to be one :)

Yea I've heard about that before. I think it stunts your growth only if you over do it but otherwise you should be fine.
