I think what would be better for you to do is create your own happiness, take control of your own life and realize, that even if there was a God, He long ago left us. I can not, like you fathom a God that is told to us as children the one from the New Testament, who is supposed to be all knowing and all loving would allow Himself to be weaponized, the way Religion has been since we have been able to record history.

I do not believe there is a God and it took me a very long time to arrive at this but I have seen Horrors in the Gulf war. I have seen God used as an excuse for every one of mankind’s faults weakness, depravity and hurtful thing. I can not at this moment name a single religion that has not engaged in the whole sale slaughter of others with different versions of God.

I have yet to see a version of God or religion that just does not boil down to either controlling the masses, abusing children or making women second class citizens.

All the religions I see currently engage in the mutilation of New Born Boys, Prepubescent girls, Ritualistic cannibalism, betrayal, the segregation of people, and the segregation of class.

If their is a God in the Universe He will send all the current "Christians, Muslims, Druids etc to hell for their weaponization of his true intent.

Religion has done nothing to bring mankind closer together, if anything it has divided us, stunted science, kept the poor locked in brutal poverty. It is a shame made by Man to control the masses. It in my opinion is the single Most Vile and evil creation of humanity.

Ok you seem the type of that needs a solid scientific answer.

If God is not real, then the "Big Bang" is the only other concievable theory for us, and our world's existence. The Big Bang was supposedly the creation of the entire universe, yet this conflicts with "Energy cannot be created or destroyed": a proven scientific law. God is a form of energy that has always existed and always will.

How could science and nature create such divinity anyway?

I personally believe that life is a challenge, and that adversties are not thrown at us by God, or any other being. They are inevitable. God will help you when you are in need, you pray and he will answer, however somethings do happen for a reason.

If you live your life by God you will be awarded when you die with eternal bliss.

You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. I recommend have some faith in your creator, but do not impose my will on anyone.

First try a big g, God. Even if you do not believe, it is a respect thing.

Way back in the day I was being ministered to by a few people in a church youth group. They were giving me this verse and that verse and they made no sense.

Now, I am a realist, I believe in what I can see. I know math, that makes sense.

I was on a nature hike in the Smokey Mountains when I came across a natural valley that had to be one of the most beautiful sights on earth. There I sat and contemplated the universe, the planet and my surroundings.

I started thinking about odds. What were the odds of being at that place in a solitary moment in such a complex ecosystem offering such enormous grandeur, beauty and complex balance? The odds of such an event being a random occurrence were too extreme to even consider calculating.

The enormity of our world and out surroundings are far too miraculous to be random. At that moment I understood that a higher power, God, must have had a hand.

Find your place and make your own understanding. When you reach a conclusion let me know and I can help you with this verse and that to help in your quest.

In short I can not convince you that God is real. You must come to your own peace with that. All I can do is offer my experience for you to contemplate.

An external God is an imaginary friend for adults and another boogey man for children."In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by God; and without God was not any thing made that was made. In the word was life; and the life was the light of men." We live in a story God created to pass eternity. God is a fantasy writer! As characters in God's story we are part of god in a holographic way where each part contains the whole because the whole contains each part. Why do bad things happen to good people? It advances the plot. Why does science make new discoveries all the time? To fill in the holes in the internal logic of the story. Time? Just a way to keep the "pages" in order.

I will not pretnend to know God so well that I can "convince you" he exists even amongst the suffering. But He does. How do I know? I feel him. In my heart, in my soul, in my life, when I cry. I can hear him. In the wind, the birds songs, childrens laughter.

I do not think that it is God's fault that we have suffering in this world. We create the suffering. We choose to murder, lie, cheat, steal, and hurt our fellow man. God gave us free will, a wonderful gift that we have abused greatly. Satan has had run of this earth for a LONG time. We allow satan to deceive us. But, God is hope. God is a child enduring all the hardships he faces with a smile on his face. God is there when a bomb goes off and all die but one little child. God has provided us with a beautiful world (just take a walk in nature, some where quiet and peaceful) and we have destroyed it. God is love. As angry as we get at Him for all this world endures how do you think He must feel to see us do this to eachother. To see us hurt the earth and animals and kids and people? He could stop the world, He could put it all to an end. And when He is ready He will. But if He ends it too soon, what will we have learned?

Well, the big bang occurred somehow. The laws of physics were not randomly made.

Or, I guess, you could say, we just haven't found out what caused the big bang, or that the laws of nature just exist.

Edit: Oh, and in response to another response underneath mine, the Big Bang does not violate the law of conservation of energy. The law talks about no energy being created at a specific time. The Big Bang pre-dates spacetime, and time only existed afterwards. Science is full of exceptions and theories. Science can only prove post-big bang events. Pre-big bang events is expected to be a blob of energy anyway, so it's not creating more energy. But all science starts out like this. And yet, huge progresses have been made from theories in technology and other sciences, and little by little, theories are being validated. This is not a "flaw" within the theory. *End of Edit*

God exists, because we exist, and it can't be a coincidence that all the organisms in our body function are too complicated to occur on its own. RIght?

Or perhaps, hundreds of millions of years of natural selection, testing, and evolution has created us. That does not sound too farfetched either. Heck, a flu virus manages to change quickly, each year, and has been self-sustaining for hundreds of years. That's not a coincidence, it's just the flu virus adapting to changes.

    Who knows?

Why do morals exist? Or consciences?

One could also say morals exist due to the environment you were raised up in. If someone was raised in a fascist regime, the person may think killing one race was a good thing.

Every culture in the world has believed in some God.

Or you could say its just a human universal like patriarchal societies or ceremonial burials, language, war, etc.

You shouldn't need to be convinced if God exists or not. Obviously, you don't think one exists according to the tone of your question. So be it. God doesn't exist.

It's just a personal feeling/question anyway, that only you, yourself, can answer.

What I'm saying is, this can go on forever, and there are answers on both sides one can give to each, so doing a Q&A or trying to prove God exists doesn't work.

Religious people will say: God does not wish bad things. It says right here in [insert religious text].

Less religiously but spiritual people will say: God exists in your soul, your heart, because you feel it.

Almost everyone will say: We, humans, cause our own suffering.

My Final Thought: Why the hell are you asking a bunch of users on yahoo answers? It's like asking what the meaning of life is? I think philosophers have thought their brains off for thousands of years. Internet users aren't going to provide you with the answer. Are we spiders at the hands of an angry god? Or are we at the hands of a loving fellow? Or are we deists who believe God is just an observer? Or can we just be humans, living by our own morals, uncaring of if God exists, and just be good? I don't think either side would have a problem with that.

Free will is what causes all of those horrible things. Fortunately, it is also allows for charity, love, and goodwill towards others.

If you want to believe in God, the first step may not be the Bible. The first step may be to recognize the happiness and peace that is more present in a Christian family. Maybe you need to look inside yourself and realize that you fear death, and that you don't want to fear death. There is a promise of something greater.

Take a look around at all of the marvels in this world, and maybe you will see that it is too big of a coincidence for us all to come from single cell organisms all the way to this place in time without some kind of larger power.

It's hard to go from no faith to a faith in God, but I hope you keep trying to find Him.

Everything you see around you had to have come from somewhere. Even if what scientists say about the big bang theory is true, the dust clouds had to have come from somewhere. God did not intend on all the pain and suffering of this world. He put Adam and Eve here on Earth in a perfect world, but there punishment for defying him was the type of world we have today. (you should read the story of Adam and Eve) Also, a lot of the pain and suffering of this world is there because we choose to put it there by our lack of better judgment, and sometimes, God wants you to learn something or grow as a person through your trials. please contact me if you would like further answers.

  • no one can convince you God is real but the Holy Spirit himself. If you want to believe, pray and what you ask for shall be granted.

to answer your question, there are SOOOOO many answers on why there's so much bad in this world.

just look at it this way. God doesn't do these things. everyone is granted free will. If you want to kill, you can kill. that's why innocent people die. If you believe in God and do good, you will get your treasure in heaven and you won't remember this earth or it's belongings and then you'll be truly happy.

everyone's life is a test. some will pass, some won't. everyone lives on the same planet with the same situations, but some choose wisely and others, well......you get the point.

bottom line is, believers will end up getting rewarded for passing this test with their faith and their suffering in believing in God (trust me, we suffer) will cease.

God bless and I hope this helps. : )

Sadly, God allows suffering. Why-you ask?? Well, because some people learn that way. I'm sure God doesn't want people to suffer or die, however, when they keep willfully disobeying Him and ignore Him, He allows suffering because that is the only way to get some people's attention.

Also, we live in a fallen state. Nothing and noone is perfect. There is evil in the world, we all wish it would just go away, but it's not going to until Jesus comes back.

I can't make you believe anything you don't want to. And from the way you've worded your question-even if I produced cold hard facts and evidence~you probably would still doubt me. But that's o.k. Jesus said that would happen. Praise His name!
