I am currently back in college working on my associates degree. I also work at a small but wonderful little nature center where we teach kids and adults to love animals and nature and all about WI native plants and wildlife. We have all kinds of birds, fish, frogs, turtles, rabbits, mice, snakes and more. I share my home with my fiance, his 2 wonderful kids ages 6 and 2, my father, 6 dogs, 4 cats, a rabbit and a ferret
Many questions about being in afghanistan?
There is someone I know online who is saying they are in the reserves and stationed in afghanistan. Here is some info about the situation. The man is 40 years old, very overweight/obese in all pics I have seen of him. He says he cannot give an address out for care packages for maybe a month and it has been over a month with no address. He is online at weird times and often throughout the day in the chat room. He said he was shot in the leg and was back on active duty 3 days later. So far he has told us of 8-10 injuries to his troop. He is on myspace a lot, says he brought his own laptop. Sometimes he'll sign out of chat with....gotta go under morter at. and leave. Can any body who has been actively deployed with reserves tell me about how things are when you are in afghanistan? Would a person have time to be online in chat rooms? Would they be able to give contact info? Thank you in advance

how do I make them stop? I havent ever had a dog so interested in the litter box. I saw distaste at the pet store and it only keeps them from eating their own poop not other animals.
10 AnswersDogs1 decade agobarking puppy?
what is an appropriate way to correct a puppy from barking at everyone we have come into the house. I have tried telling him no, and ignoring him until he stops barking. We also tried separating him from visitors until they are there a while and then letting him out. He barks at my step-daughter (2yrs old) whenever she comes over (every weekend and once a week) and my mom who is over maybe once a month. He is a 3 1/2 month old chihuahua/daushaund mix who shares our home with his brother, mom, and my pit mix (6yrs old) and Malamute who is 7 and none of them do this.
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhy will people wait for a doctor but want a RX in 20 minutes?
I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician and have been in retail pharmacies for 5 years now. I do not understand the people who come in and expect us to just "slap a label on a bottle" cuz they are in a rush. We are just as busy as your doctor, if not more busy because we also need to bill insurance, talk to people about what to buy or how to take their meds, call YOUR doctor who messed up writing the prescription or didnt realize you were on something that interacts with your medication. We need to do the data entry which must be verified it was entered correctly by a pharmacist who is busy with calls and consulting patients and then needs to be counted, bottled, labeled and bagged. For you and 100 other people all at once. Are people getting more impatient or are they just impatient at the pharmacy?

15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agowhat are some easy ways to cut a food budget?
hello all. I need some cheap idea's to cut our food bill. We feed 3 adults, 2 kids (one only on weekends other full time) and countless animals (dont need to cut that, we have it at a good cost)....step-son has breakfast and lunch at school 5 days a week which leaves only the 3 adults for all 3 meals. We have my 2 yr old step-daughter only on weekends and she doesnt affect the budget much. Any quick, cheap, kid-friendly, tried and true idea's to save some cash? We are trying to save for a car!

To places that have no dogs allowed signs?
The reason I ask is I work at a small but wonderful nature center. We do not allow dogs for a few reasons the biggest being we are funded and ran by the area's public school district as a field trip location which see's over 16,000 kids per school year. Some dogs are not so great with kids AND who wants to hike in someone's doggy mess? I have 6 dogs myself and went up to someone last year who decided to come visit with their golden retriever and let him know we are a no dogs allowed center and there is a dog park a few block away. He cursed me out!! Screaming and shouting how his dog wasnt hurting anything ect ect. All while I had 60 kids staring and wondering why he was being the way he was. I tried explaining our policy but he wouldnt hear it. I love taking my dogs places. Dog parks, nature walks ect but only when they are allowed. And we have 6 signs visible from the parking lot alone!!!! So, do you go area's that do not allow dogs?

I rescued a chihuahua 2 weeks before she had pups. She was with some BYB's who claimed she was spayed. They now say she may have gotten pregnant by a Jack Russel mix or a Jack Russel. To me, the boys look either like a min pin or daushaund. They do however have wirey hair by their eyes. What do you think?

I know the pics do not do them justice and the BYB's had lots of different small dogs in cages so I cant just guess, we are keeping Chocolate
18 AnswersDogs1 decade agowhat is your dogs favorite toy?
I currently am owned by 6 dogs. My Malamute's favorite are ropes, all shapes and sizes preferably NOT flavored. My Pit mix loves chasing things so balls of course and she adores soft plush's. My chihuahua hasn't played with anything in the little over 2 months I have had her BUT she likes chasing the cats and chewing bones, I understand her lack of playfulness as she was pregnant when I got her and now has 3 , 7 week old pups. The pups like kongs, and the rabbit (LOL) and anything they can pick up in their mouth.
What do your dogs like best? Anything they can't live without? Have you had a dog obsessed with a toy that you had to buy them in bulk and replace as needed?
28 AnswersDogs1 decade ago6 week pups vomiting?
Hello again all. My pups are having some troubles today, oldest (and biggest) of the three started heaving earlier and coughed up some foamy liquid. I called the vet and she said not to worry about it as they are being weaned and getting used to solids and water. They have been eating solids for a few weeks now but this week mom rarely feeds them, so they are mainly on solids. They are eating well, pooping well, playful and energetic and I thought nothing of it. Well, now the runt did it. Has anyone ever experienced this before. I am consitering taking them to the all night clinic but they are all bouncy and doing fine other than the liquid (it was a very small amount)
Before too many people yell at me that I shouldnt have bred without knowing much.....their mother is a dog I rescued. 2 weeks after her rescue she gave birth. She is scheduled for her spay at the end of Nov and the pups have homes for when they are 12 weeks with contracts stating they must spay/neuter.
13 AnswersDogs1 decade agoquestion for breeders, rescuers and trainers~small dogs?
Hello all.
A little over 2 months ago I rescued a chihuahua who ended up being very pregnant although they said she was just fat......whatever (they were BYB's and I had them shut down) anyways.....she had 3 pups. Looks to me and from what the old "owners" said they are Jack Russel Terrier/Chihuahua mix. I already have good homes for them. I need help with 2 things. Wording of a contract for the homes. I want them to sign saying they will spay/neuter and dog returned to me if it doesnt work out. They get first shots in 2 weeks (6 weeks old today) and I will include that paperwork and some toys and a sweater/jacket thing as it is cold here in WI.
I am keeping one pup. Does anyone have any small dog training tips....especially potty training. They go out with mom and have been doing their buisness outside but want to keep it up with other methods to ensure success. I am more used to large breeds and rescuing adults so pups are kind of new to me! Thanks in advance!

6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoUrgent question please help help help?
Okay so I have 3 dogs, 4 cats, a rabbit and a ferret......which one should I love the most? Maybe I should tell you about them.....one is a Malamute 7 year old male, one is a APBT/Golden retriever mix and one is a chihuahua. My cats are all domestic shorthair and my rabbit is a lionhead. My ferret is white with a black tail.
They are all so cute. They are already named but maybe you can think of great names for my dogs with out ever meeting me or them, even though they are 7,6 and 7 I am sure they won't mind.
Oh, and too bad they are all spayed and neutered or I could have bred them with eachother and had APBT/GOLDEN RETRIEVERS/MALAMUTE/CHIHUAHUA mixes that I could have given to people on the street and never assessed their home.
So what do you think? Should I love the dogs, the cats, the rabbit or the ferret most? What should their names be?
Oh and if you can tell me how to give veterinary care at home without costing me anything that would be awesome!!!!
23 AnswersDogs1 decade agoparenting question?
I have some friends who have 4 kids. 3 are from the wife's previous relationship (father is not involved) and a newborn daughter together who is on a heart moniter and was tiny (4 pounds) at birth 3 weeks ago. They let her 6 year old sister and 4 year old brother feed the baby UNSUPERVISED.....I walked in to find (at 11pm) the 6 year old holding the bottle for baby in the carseat (needless to say I took the baby and made the 6 year old go to sleep) and they let the 4 year old brother feed her on the floor while dad laid on the couch out of view of the baby and mom was on the computer out of view of the baby while milk squirted out of the babies nose. I said something to them and they said they are trying to make the older 2 feel involved. How do I talk to them about all the dangers of this?
11 AnswersParenting1 decade agoCanidae dog food?
I recently rescued (and am keeping) a chihuahua who 3 weeks after her rescue gave birth to 4 pups (with 3 survivors) and when I got her I was told she would not eat dog food. Well, I put her on Canidae as I had heard great things about it and she loves it!!! I will be switching my other 2 dogs (malamute and Pit bull/golden retriever) to it as well as I would like to have the same food for both the big and small dogs. One thing concerns me and that is why I am asking here, I have done quite a bit of research and found a few links that Canidae has been making dogs sick and had acetaminophen in it recently. Then I searched again and found claims that those are false. Does anyone know any reliable resources for checking on Dog foods and recalls, or if these stories are correct.
8 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhy as believers do we need to believe Theories?
Why do people feel that you are uneducated if you do not belive in the theory of evolution or the big bang theory? I have studied them both, I am a naturalist (natural scientist) and teach children every day....I do not teach the theory of evolution but do teach about species adaptations for weather and food ect. Why do non-believers feel we need to agree with their idea's of the beginings of time to be educated people? I love science, and am grateful my very Christian parents made an effort to instruct me in the publics idea's of what went on in the begining of time. My mother went and bought me science books every month as I went to a private Christian school where science was lacking. The Bible (which I believe to be filled with errors on the behalf of MAN changing to suit his needs or wants) but it does have facts and has been proven with history time and time again
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agowhat is the BEST dog food?
I have 6 dogs. A Malamute/Germen Shephard, a Pit Bull/Golden Retriever and a chihuahua who just was recued by us and gave birth (after we were told she was SPAYED...long story) to 3 pups. Well, I was wondering what is the best dog food. I do not mind paying a little more for something that will produce less waist and give my dogs the nutrients they need. I have been researching and have come across a few brands but would love to hear from people who have tried different brands on what is the best.
