Video card purchase help.. Quick but only knowledgable answers.?

Currently have a radeon x600 256MB video card on a Dell 5150. I want to purchase a new video card, but I am not sure about information I need to find one that will work with my system. I know alot about computers, fix most everyone's but somehow i know nothing about video cards. the main problem with mine is that 1 it is too slow 2 it lacks a cooling fan so overheats and crashed. I want a new card without spending more than about $200 but one i also won't find myself upgrading in a year. Recomendations. I would like to get one with 512MB and definatly faster than 400GHz. I have a dell dimension 5150 Intel Pentium 4, 3GHz with 3.00 GB of RAM. I run windows XP professional. Help Please, Need more info i will provide immediatly. Thanks for any help.

Update:

if anyone can tell me what i'm looking for as far as compatability requirements with my current computer would be greatly appreciated not just recomendations on models. What am I looking for as far as if it will work in my computer.

Radeon HD 3850, available with 512mb ddr3 ram at newegg.com for about 200 bucks. It's definitely your best bet for the money.

The only thing to look for as far as compatibility goes is the slot its going to go in. Chances are you have a PCIe slot, judging by the age of your computer.
