  • how fast has anyone seen blood clots in picc lines?

Anyone who has had experience with blood clots around picc lines or elsewhere in body due to picc lines (not clogged picc lines) I'm curious as to how long they took to form. I'm on my 3rd picc line and worried it's now formed a clot, It's only been in for 3 days. The first one I was diagnosed with a clot in 3 days, the second one i was diagnosed with a clot in 20 hours after it was put in, now 2 years later I have my 3rd picc line in. Anyone else have experience with clots appearing this fast on picc lines? Right now i'm wondering is it even possible to clot with in 3 days and cause problems like a Pulminary embolism.

  • Multiple water blisters covering body?

Over the last few days I was in the hospital for low blood pressure and passing out. During that time I was itching with a low grade fever, nausea, and feeling ill. I figured I was having an allergic reaction to something but was unsure what it was. Cardiology ruled out a heart problem and general medicine didn't bother to look further. I still have low blood pressure, feel horrible and today the general itching and slight spread out rash turned into sporadic water blisters covering my entire back, most of my stomach, chest, and several on my face, and arms. Now they are less itching and more burning. I still am suffering from low blood pressure and issues as well as nerve symptoms such as my hands going numb. It seems to almost resemble shingles, without much of a pattern. There is a slight pattern to one section on my back. FYI I am immonsuppered to to adrenal insufficiency and prescribed steroids. The rash is very light red if at all, it's mostly very small water blisters. Any thoughts, I Always thought shingles was a pattern and red.

  • Any way to get through a blocked wireless connection to access "non work" related webpages?

No, i'm not trying to get out of working. i've been in the hospital for 13 days, and i'm starting to go a little nuts from boredom. I've tried to get into sites like delphi chats or myspace and i get warnings stating that wireless is for job related web-sites and work only. Well i'm a hospital patient. it's also there for us. Does anyone know how to get past these things easily. It seems to be like a parent guard on the computer. cause some chats will work, some won't. it has to almost be programed to block specific sites.

  • can you fix a broken ground prong on a microwave? Or use it without the ground Prong?

My 2 cats, knocked the microwave off the counter this morning and tore the plug out of the wall. the 2 Main prongs were bent, but i did manage to bend them back enough to fit but they tore the grounding prong clear off the plug. it was left in the wall. the ground prong is fairly bent up and mangled. I could pound it back maybe but i'm not sure if it will stay in the plug? Is there anyway to fix it, Or can i use the microwave with the grounding prong. Yes everyone says it's a saftey hazard. The microwave is plugged into a very touchy electric socket that is always turning off. I ran the microwave for about 5 seconds and it seems to be working fine. Any ideas or suggestions?

  • doxycycline causing bladder pain?

I just started taking doxycycline yesterday morning for a skin condition. After the second time I took it i started having more frequent asthma attacks. Then today after the 3rd time I took it, about 7 hours after I started getting pain like i had a bladder infection. It doesn't burn to urinate just feels uncomfortable. I'm pretty sure I might be allergic to the medication, and i stopped taking it. I have adrenal insuficiency so i also take steroids. Since i've only taken 3 doses of antibiotics it's unlikely i already got a yeast infection. And since it's an antibiotic would be crazy to develop a UTI a day after starting the medication. Any knowledgable advice please??? Could an allergy acutally irritate my bladder like it does my lungs.

  • Cat chewed thermacare heat wrap days later started vomiting?

Saturday morning my 2 year old cat got into my trash can and pulled out an old thermacare heat wrap. I guess he enjoyed playing with it because when I woke up it was chewed up. Tons of tiny holes, but no giant peices missing and the thing was sopping wet. I looked in his water dish and there were tiny black specs left over from the heat wrap. I called the Vet and he said to watch for vomitting and He was fine for 2 days then Monday he threw up right after eating some canned food, and then again today he threw up right after eating some dry food. Nothing else seems wrong with him, maybe a slightly loose stools. I know he has to be eating at some times and not throwing up, but i'm still worried about any lasting effects... Anyone have any experience with something like this. I know cats vomit from time to time.

  • Will Cats bite or scratch if they have a tick on them?

My cat recently escaped my house for 2 1/2 weeks. I managed to humane trap him took him to the vet. They did do a medicated bath on him, but i was checking him again for fleas which suprisingly he has No fleas after 2 1/2 weeks. Wondering if he has a tick would he scratch or bite at it. Was feeling his skin and trying to look but just keep finding areas that look like scabs and one big black scab looking thing that's way too big to be a tick. i think.

  • Any one every had a problem with IV phenergan?

Was in the hospital last 4 days, and yesterday after they removed all the IV stuff except for the IV port, which was in the back of my hand... They gave me a injection of phenergan, and not slowly. It hurt like well i can't post the words that describe it. The nurse pushed it in so fast that i couldn't even tell her to stop only scream after. Then she flushed the line, to make matters worse. I've had IV phenergan before and no problems, but never in my hand. Today my hand is swollen and red with red blotches extending down my arm. I still can't touch it without crying. Seeing a doctor tomorrow, but sortof freaking out after looking up IV Phenergan on the web and i know the nurse made a major mistake and well i know it missed the vein at least mostly because i was throwing up 10 minutes later. the pain just keeps extending further down my arm and my fingers are cold and hand doesn't seem to work totally right. Just want to see if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks.

  • PVC's Please Help?

Almost 3 weeks ago i started noticing skipped heart beats, it started like 2 days after shoveling a ton of snow where i felt like my heart was pounding out of my chest. For a week they came like 1 every few minutes, finally i went to the ER because it was making me incredibly dizzy. I had an Echo, some blood work and a holter monitor that confirmed they were PVC's.. Cardiologist put me on Cardizem cause i cannot take beta blockers. it's only been 3 days and my blood pressure dropped dramatically like down to 89/67, for someone who's normal is like 130/82 kindof a shocker. anyways, last 2 weeks i been getting series of PVC's. Many multiples in a short time. last 2 hours think i've had close to 30 series of them. Cardiologist says not to worry, but the fact they are getting progressively worse and now it's the weekend coming, i'm terrified. Any help??????????? Can PVC's be an allergic reaction to a medication. I'm taking mycelex troches but am allergic to diflucan..

  • Anyone alergic to diflucan and have persistent recurring resistant yeast infections and oral thrush?

Helppppppp pleaseeeee........ Have an allergy to diflucan, face breaks out in a rash and throat swells. I'm on steroids for adrenal insufficiency and inhaled steroids for asthma. On top of the basically normal monthly yeast infection (no rude comments) I've had oral thrush for months and months. Nystatin helped but didn't get rid of it Amo B mouth washes (custom made) didn't help... Finally doctors argued with me it wasn't a fungal infection. Well i begged a doctor to culture it after months of it and well it is a fungus.. Now trying mycelex (sorry can't spell) i've used them before, and had no reaction, but up till december i had no reaction to diflucan. I know there is a chance of an allergy but don't know what else to do. Yogurt, probiotics make my stomach hurt like no tomorrow, garlic doesn't help. regular mouth washes, peroxide diluted mouth washes do nothing, cleaning tounge leaves it too painful to even talk or eat. I'm soooooooooooo in dire need of help doctors are even clueles

  • Esophagus Candida .. Preventing/Treating?

Ok, like 3 times a year i get candida infections in my esophagus then shows up in my mouth, plus constant women's typical style infection. I'm allregic to diflucan and all azole antifungals, and nystatin liquid isn't working. Looking for anyone with a history of these infections constantly. I've had like 7 upper endoscopy's in the last 4 years and even when i don't have an infection my esophagus looks like a rough torn up mess. when i became allergic to diflucan, i can't take anything to get rid of it. I get the infections because i take inhaled steroids for asthma and oral steroids for addison's disease. looking for a way to prevent them (tried yogurt and started taking acidophilus) or even naturally treat them. PLEASE HELP.................. doctors don't help much but try to treat infection but rarely do they remove it totally so it just keeps growing back.

  • 3 Years if unresolved nausea?

3 years ago I became nauseas and had upper abdominal pain. Doctors thought it was my gallbladder and removed it, which made things worse. I've been through every test for common causes of nausea. My GI doctor has given up, and my Neurologist, endocrinologist, and ENT have been no help. I also have acid reflux, addrenal insufficiency, and asthma. I'm wondering what strange causes of nausea exist, what doctors could be missing. I lost my job a year ago, and now i'm pretty much stuck at home nearly all the time. I do have periods where nausea is a little better or worse but it never goes away. Please help I'm desperate to get a life again... I'm 26 years old.

  • allergy to diflucan, any idea how long until i can stop worrying about serious reaction???

I took diflucan this morning like 4 hours later my face erupted in a rash. the only other symptom is slight throat swelling. I'm taking benedryl without it helping much. I'm concerned that because diflucan stays in your system so long that I could get much worse even though i took the medication almost 12 hours ago.
