Need name of Movie about a girl and a boy who are friends in Heaven, after born boy seeks the girl on Earth?

Anyway - my Wife is after this film. It would win me a few point with her if I could track it down and buy the DVD :)

This is what she remembers.

It was made in the 1970's or 1980's ( approx :) ). It is about a little girl and boy who are friends in Heaven. They are sent to Earth, born a few minutes apart. The boy (remembering his soul mate from their days in Heaven) spends his life seeking her out on Earth.

Sounds vomit inducingly awful to me - but hey - I would be thankful to any film buffs who can give me a name.
