Human Weapon: 12/27/07 - TKD?

Did anyone watch it yesterday? I taped it, but I was able to catch the challenge match at the end. I though it was hillarious that the big guy got knocked out with one of those useless high kicks, then the other guy torqued his knee trying to be fancy. Did you notice that "The Professor" was hardly breathing hard after 2.5 rounds?

I was able to watch the last 30 mins. of it. I loved it. I have been KO'd by hook kicks before, I know how the big guy feels. I am hopeing they will show it again so I can see the 1st part. All in all, very well done.

I watched the ending, and before that I watched a documentary about TKD from the discovery channel.

I thought it was ok. I was a little iffy on the history (I'm still iffy on whether or not Taekkyon kicking applies to Tae Kwon Do or not, and hwarangdo is still controversial), and the choice of kicks (They had a lot more choices than those three: How about the damn spin hook master kwak did over a tornado kick? WTF? :p) but I liked the episode overall. The hwarangdo training was cool, the marble break was really impressive to me, and one of the reasons I'm about to post a question is because of the episode.

I'm not in TKD anymore (The art I take now has TKD as a piece with Hapkido, Judo, and Jujutsu as one for all range combat, in addition to hapkido on its own), but I think it really could have been better when it came to the sparring. The kicks were great, but I wanted to see more. I don't doubt that master Kwak was going easy on Bill and Jason, but eh... the sparring match didn't catch me as overly crazy or anything. I respect TKD, but there's already controversy, as the video of master Kwak knocking bill out was released a long time ago (It's on youtube). People are already like "This proves nothing" or "Wow! TKD is invincible," both of which are baseless.

I respect Master Kwak, Bill, and Jason though. I'm having my fun at the Human Weapon forum right now. :)

"I though it was hillarious that the big guy got knocked out with one of those useless high kicks."

It might surprise you, but I think that kick is one of the most useful TKD kick that you can even use in kickboxing and such. It's only useful if you can pull it off very quickly though. The professor destroyed them. It's his profession after all. All he does is teach very high leveled TKD in a university. At first, I thought TKD was going to get owned but I guess I was wrong.

It was cool, both of them got put to the floor very easy by the master. The professor can hold his own.
