Bryant Gas furnace pilot light keeps going out?

I have a somewhat older (1997) Bryant gas furnace. Occasionally the pilot light will go out and the furnace will run with non-heated air blowing. I cannot seem to detect any patteren to the light going out at all. It has gone out twice in two days but before that it has been over three weeks. Any ideas? Thank you!

first thing to do is change the thermocouple. sounds like yours is having intermittent connection issues. you can get one at any home improvement store or neighborhood hardware/appliance store for about 10 bux.

Are you sure that your furnace has a standing pilot? If your fan sometimes blows just air it sounds like you have a fan timer. You may want to double check to see if you have a pilot or spark to pilot or hot surface ignition (glow). Are you relighting pilot by hand?Send info

You should probably start with the routine maintenance. Then the pilot assembly may need cleaned. You can find a step by step troubleshooting guide on the furnace page at my source.

Same make and problem as mine. Mine got to the point it wouldnt stay on at all. Thermocouple was bad. $14 and installed myself and perfect now. Video on youtube shows how to do the water heater thermocouple but basically the same. 10 minute job.

Have it serviced by a professional.

Be sure all covers are properly installed so drafts don't blow it out.

You probably need to replace the thermal coupling.
