How much can I expect to pay (in the USA) to get a hole in a sweater fixed?
As I was putting on one of my favorite wool sweaters today, I noticed it had a hole in it. The affected area is about the size of a dime. It was recommended to me that I take it to an alterations place to have it fixed. How much have you paid for a service like this? The answers will help me decide if I want to do it, and, if I decide to do it, whether the estimate I get is reasonable.

Use your phone and call some seamstresses. You need to find out who does "french weaving". Tell them the size of thee hole. Make sure you're sitting down when they respond. It's NOT CHEAP!

Buy a pack of needles($2) and a spool of thread(cotton) of the right color($1) and sew the hole closed from the back.
A tailor would probably charge you at least $5-7 for the job, which would take him 5 minutes.
Or you could send it to me and I will do it for nothing(return postage about $10-20.)
Unless you want it rewoven perfectly, which most tailors couldn't do...if you can find someone to do it it will be expensive.
By the way, better get some naphthalene...you have moths.
