Good time of year for the northern lights in Finland?
I am going to Ruka in Finland on 20 January for one week. I would love to see the Auroras, but I can't seem to find out anywhere if this is a good time of year for them or not.
Can anyone tell me what the likelyhood of me being able to see them is?
Thanks

I've lived in the north of Sweden now for 6 years, and I've seen the northern lights a couple of times over the years - about this time of year. They really are fantastic, so it's worth making the effort to witness it with your own eyes!
According to the link I've added, northern lights happen all day long, but being close to the arctic circle will give you more opportunities to see one, simply because it's dark at least 20 hours at day - thereby making it easier to see this fantastic light display. Not only that, but it's often so cold that the skies are cloudless, also making the northern lights easier to see.
Hope you see one!
