  • Can anyone reccommend a word processing app for Kindle Fire?

I currently have the free version of Kingsoft office for Android on my kindle fire so that I can write and take notes while out and about, but it really isn't user friendly or intuitive, so I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good one to use. Willing to pay for something that's really good.

    Cheers

  • Can anyone translate a basic English phrase into Scots Gaelic for me?

I'm wondering if someone can translate the phrase "Writing is life" or "live for writing" into Scots Gaelic for me please. I am looking for a brief phrase that sums up that sort of feeling, in whichever way it sounds best in Gaelic.

    Can anyone help me?

  • Wet to dry hair straighteners for short hair?

Can anyone recommend some decent (don't have to be super amazing) reasonably priced wet to dry hair straighteners for thickish short hair?

  • Are there any non-brand makers of batteries for Sony Alpha cameras?

    Hi,

I have a Sony Alpha 200 digital SLR camera and want to get a spare battery. The Sony ones are about £55...

I was wondering if you can get non-Sony ones anywhere that are a bit cheaper 'cos they don't have the name?

Links or manufacturers would be great, thanks.

  • What is the best fridge/cooler to take camping?

I'm planning a two week touring camping trip in September (tent and a Micra, not a caravan) and I would like to get a cooler or fridge that is small and portable and that will run off car battery or batteries, but that will keep cold while its not connected.

I have seen a few on-line, but would like to see some reviews or hear some recommendations.

    Thanks

  • Exercises before charity boat race?

Next weekend I am taking part in a charity dragon boat race and we will be rowing. I’m not a member of a gym, but I was wondering if there are any simple exercises that I can do at home over the week just to loosen the muscles that I’ll be using so I don’t end up hurting for days afterward!

    Thanks

  • Living in Toronto and Vancouver?

Hi, my partner and I are considering a move to Canada and so far like the look of Toronto and Vancouver and are weighing up the pros and cons of living in both places.

Can anyone give me any pros and cons of living in these cities? Has anyone lived in both that could help compare the two for me?

    Thanks

  • Can you use normal SLR lenses with a digital camera?

I have a film Minolta Dynax SLR. I would like to upgrade to digital, but I have some great lenses that it would be a shame not to be able to use any more.

If I buy a Sony digital SLR body can I use normal lenses with it?

    Thanks.

  • MBT shoes, Masai Barefoot Technology, do they work?

Has anyone tried a pair of MBT trainers? I have heard about them and hear how they can help ease back and leg pains, but as they are so expensive I'd like to know if anyone thinks they work before I get some.

I have weak arches in my feet and have lax joints so there is too much movement in my joints when I walk. Does anyone know if these shoes would help me?

    Thanks

  • iTrip/ FM transmitter for iPod touch?

Can anyone recommend a good FM transmitter that definitely works with an iPod touch? It’s for a present and I’d like it also to one that allows you to connect a charger to it while it’s playing.

    Thanks

  • Not going to work tomorrow - anxiety?

I am currently under treatment from my doctor and seeing a counsellor for depression and anxiety. A lot of my problems stem from work, but I have carried on coming in day after day like normal.

However, I am currently experiencing more and more panic attacks at work and when I think about coming to work.

I just can't face coming in tomorrow. I know this sounds very dramatic (and I wouldn't actually do anything) but the irrational part of my mind would rather I got hurt than have to come to work tomorrow.

I have tried contacting my GP this afternoon to see if he could help, maybe sign me off for a few days or something, but my surgery closes at lunch time on a Wednesday and I missed it.

What can I do prevent me having to come to work tomorrow?

(P.S. It feels really weird to write such a desperate and needy sounding thing on a website. Very unlike me.)

  • Dress styles for Jazz style party?

I'm going to a party that has a jazz/ swing style theme. The music is going to be Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin etc.

Guys have been told that it is jacket and tie and ladies are to wear dresses.

I would love to wear something that is properly fitting to the era. Can any one send me links to pictures of the type of style I should go for, or anywhere where I can get something? I am a UK size 16 so nothing I have to be super skinny for please!

    Thanks

  • Home speakers for my iPod?

I'm looking to get a dock and speakers for my iPod at home. I want reasonably good quality and volume, but it’s not like I have a lot of house parties or anything.

I don't have a lot of money and I’ve seen speakers for about £40, would they suit my needs?

Can anyone recommend some decent speakers for around the £50 mark?

I have one of the slightly older style iPods (it’s got the wheel and pictures, but it’s prior to the slim line video one).

  • Good time of year for the northern lights in Finland?

I am going to Ruka in Finland on 20 January for one week. I would love to see the Auroras, but I can't seem to find out anywhere if this is a good time of year for them or not.

Can anyone tell me what the likelyhood of me being able to see them is?

    Thanks

  • Italian restaurants in Victoria?

I have been charged with finding a venue for my department's Christmas Lunch.

Because we come from all over the south east we have decided to meet in Victoria, London for this.

So, I am looking for a nice, reasonably priced Italian restaurant, close to Victoria train station.

I've had a look on a couple of websites, but I'd rather go with a personal recommendation, so hit me!

  • Indicator problem on a Nissan micra - please help a clueless girl?

The other day my left indicator started blinking rapidly when I used it. I therefore checked my indicator lights and the rear left one was out so I changed the bulb.

However, I am still having the rapid blinking problem. All the lights are working, the right one is fine, and when I use my hazard lights both sides flash at normal speed.

Can anyone tell me what could be wrong with my left indicators?

Is there anything that I can do to fix it? Please bear in mind that my car knowledge extends as far as knowing that a rapid blinking indictor normally means the bulb is out!!!

    Thanks.

  • 1920's fancy dress party?

I'm going to a new year's fancy dress party and am trying to think of something reasonably easy, but different to dress up in/as. Rather than going for the flapper dress or gangster theme I was trying to think of something different.

For example, I could go as a mummy because Tutankhamen was found in the 20's, but I'm going to a Halloween party as a mummy so that it too samey.

Anyone got any good ideas for me?

    Silly is good...

  • Undeveloped land in the USA vs Africa?

I remember hearing somewhere once, not that long ago, that there was more undeveloped land in the USA then there was in Africa.

Although initial reaction to this was “no way” it got me thinking. There is a lot of undeveloped land in the States, desert, salt plains etc, whereas many of the desserts in Africa are populated and so maybe could it be true.

Is there anyone who can substantiate, with evidence, references preferably, if this quote is true or not?

    Thanks ever so!
