Dress styles for Jazz style party?

Question

I'm going to a party that has a jazz/ swing style theme.  The music is going to be Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin etc.

Guys have been told that it is jacket and tie and ladies are to wear dresses. 

I would love to wear something that is properly fitting to the era.  Can any one send me links to pictures of the type of style I should go for, or anywhere where I can get something?  I am a UK size 16 so nothing I have to be super skinny for please!

Well to the other answerer, it's not that it affects it it's more like influences. (of course just because you listen to something doesn't mean you dress a certain way but...) For example, people who listened to punk would many times where leather jackets with bands who most often supported an anti government mindset. Thus the punk genre was embodied in the clothing. You could go a punk: leather jackets, pins and buttons, combat boots, bright hair color, etc. 70's rock: plaid shirt not buttoned up, a tie dye shirt, some old distressed jeans, and a pair of sandals. Follow these examples for any other genre that interests you: Jazz, indie (dress as a hipster), metal, gothic rock, hip hop, etc. A NOTE TO OTHERS: yes it sucks to be "labeled" by what kind of music you listen to, but if you are influenced by a genre, what's it matter that they call you punk if you listen to punk rock. Plus who gives a **** about others opinions wear whatever the **** you want geez!! (:
