The Holocaust began with an Idea. The Nazi ideology of Aryan racial supremacy along with societal feelings of anti-semitism in Germany and other European nations at the time allowed the steps towards the Holocaust to begin.
Once the Nazi's came to power they intruduced legislation to start stripping the Jews of their rights. From 1933-34 prison camps were opened for political adversaries and the Eugenics campaign began to cleanse Germany of undesirables. In 1935 the Nuremberg Laws were created. These laws stripped all Jews of their citizenship and civil rights. These laws were meant to completely force the Jews from Germany. It was noted at the time that if these laws did not work to do this, then a final solution to the "Jewish problem" was to be created. On November 9th 1938, Kristallnacht, Jewish business that remained were attacked and Jews were killed or sent to prison camps in "supervised" civilian disorder.
The start of ww2 and the invasion of Poland lead to at least another 1.4 million Jews under Nazi persecution. By absorbing this many Jews while having a policy to deny them any rights created a much more problematic concern for Nazi officials. Ghettos were established in Poland where Jews would live in urban camps outside and isolated from the rest of the world around them. As Hitler saw that Great Britain would not surrender and make peace in late 1939, (on the belief that Jews in Britain were bent on destroying the new Germany) he declared that if the war dragged on then all the Jews of Europe would pay the price. A this point Jews were secretely rounded up and shot, forced from their homes, put into camps.
When the invasion of the USSR took place in 1941, there were no more illusions as to the fate of the Jews in Europe. The Wanasee Conference of 1942 put in writting and legal practice what was already going on behind the scenes the since 1940. At this point the systematic killing of Jews as a policy was implemented.
Hitler wanted to create an Aryan Empire where Jews would be excluded from based on the racial ideologies of the time. The Jews were simply portrayed as enemy number 1 in that ideology.

Anti-semetism in Germany has not been exclusive to the third riech--however, during the 19th century there was a distinct decline in it. Anti-semetism had a resurgence due to the miserable conditions which Germany was left in after World War I. We're talking devastation to their economy, people were starving, the whole nine. So what's a savvy soon-to-be-dictator to do? Bring up old hatreds. It was the Jews that have all the money and are keeping it away from true Germans. The other world powers were collaberating with Jews. Etc.
The simple answer is that the Jews were a perfect, ready-made scapegoat from centuries prior. Hitler was not doing anything new, simply capitalizing on stereotypes in order to solidify power.

Well to begin, the holocaust started because Hitler believed in "Darwin's theory". if u look it up it says that it is a believe that there is "superior race" of the human "species", which he believed and others went along with it. the reason people went along with it was because Hitler came and feed people that were starving to death during the Great depression in Germany. then after he took charge he started to blame the Jews because of what he believed, which was that they were just "animals" of a species and to help the generation we need to kill all the Jews and throw baby's into a fire pit because we are the strong and they are the weak. also the reason people believed him was that was what they were taught. An example of the reason why it happen was the BLACK PLEAGE. people thought it was the cats that had the horrible dieses because of a belief, when it was actually the rats. so when they killed all the cats, there were more rats with the dieses and it killed more people. just like what happen in the Holocaust, they believed in the wrong thing and killed 1,000 and even more of Jews. that's all that I really know.

Hey I'm new here but i know a little about World War 2, Hitler was the one that started the holocaust why because after WW1 Germany lost a lot of land and its economy started to fail so he blamed all the problems on the Jews, and then all the people started to agree with him because he promised to make the German economy great again so a lot of people went with him.
I really hope i answered your question well later!!!

The holocaust started with Hitler. He hated the Jews because he was half Jew and something happened during his childhood. One of the most important reason why the Germans attacked the Jews was because the Jews were rich and the Germans were racist.

Hitler started the Holocaust, but anti semetic feelings were brewing below the surface in germany for years. the Jews were the scapegoat Hitler used as the reason that Germany was treated so unfairly by the Treaty of Versaille that was signed to end WW1, which had resulted in an economic depression for Germany. the jews were the scapegoat, but, as a Nazi leader later said "if the Jews had not existed, we would've invented them", meaning that if the Jews had not been a palpable scapegoat, it would've just been another minority.

are you all blind!!! the only reason the holocaust started was because of discriminations against the Jews and other races that are a little different!! it was not all Adolf Hitler! and just so you know the same thing is happening in Darfur right now because Arabs think they are better then the black Africans. 2,500,000 have been driven from their homes and over 300,000 have been killed!! genocide is coming back and if we recognize it we can stop it!

Hitler believed in a Master Race "Blue Eyes, Blond Hair" He thought everyone else was a lesser being and needed to be killed in order to not pollute the Master Race Gene pool.
Also the Jews were from the Rice class and Hitler grew up poor and just like today the poor do not like the rich.
He also kill thousands of Gypsies and other people a well not just the Jews
