how do I change a combination lock on a briefcase?
Hello. I found a lovely briefcase at a flea market. It has two combination locks. The briefcase is not currently locked. How do I change the combination lock code so I can use this function?

you would have to try all the combinations until you figure out which one opens the lock. it could be done, i did this more than once...the question is how to reset another combination, some can be changed, some can't. there may be a little hole to insert a tool to help reset the combination

You have to have a known combination to change it to another one. The solution may be very simple here... If the buttons open/slide freely, then you have a known combination dialed in. All you have to do at this point would be push/slide the buttons the opposite way from opening, dial in your own combination and viola!! Otherwise, you may be able to contact the manufacturer for the original combination. Or maybe a lock smith could help...good luck.
