Attn: Mac users!!!?

Question-

My hard drive in my pc laptop just crashed and I want to get a Mac laptop. I'm a journalist major and I do some graphic design work as well. I want to be able to do a little bit of art work on it and use illustrator, Indesign, and photoshop, etc. Is a regular iBook efficient enough for me??

A regular MacBook with 1 GB of RAM and a 2.2 GHz processor should prove adequate for what you're doing, but if you plan on using the different CS3 Suite apps simultaneously, you'd want at least 2 GB of RAM in the machine.

In fact, I have one of the new MacBooks, and though it's not a good machine to play Quake 4 or Half-Life 2 on (yes Virginia, I put Windows XP Pro on mine), it's pretty good for most anything else (HD video, media, etc). I would recommend this machine for most anyone that wants a solid laptop with good battery life and great overall (non-gaming) performance.

and then once you have offered a Mac professional approximately $4000 for a good one think of roughly what a superb computer you have have been given for $2000. Mac professional is plenty overestimated and below powered.

So long as you load it up with ram (at least 2 gig), you should be more than fine with the base macbook series. If you're talking an older ibook model (g3 or g4-based), stick with the faster g4 models and DEFINITELY crank up the ram.

Probably a bit old and a bit slow. You would be better off with a MacBook - newer faster, more efficient.

    Comes with iLife
