Generic Software for USB Microphone - Please help!?

Hello,

I bought a Samson C01U USB Studio Condensor Mic for online broadcasting. The sound is beautifully crystal clear and I love it!

However, obviously, being a mic, it is mono and only comes out the left channel. I need to have the signal split across both right and left, but the software that came with it is basically useless.

Is there generic software for USB mics or even a generic sound mixer to replace the windows one, that has options like this for a mic input?

I don't want to simulate stereo or anything complex like that. I just want to have the sound come through both right and left channels.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I have spent over eight hours trying to find a solution to this, and it should be EASY!

Update:

Thanks for the help guys.

This splitter you mentioned, true, will convert USB to two audio plugs? What about the power that the mic takes from the USB port? It still needs to be plugged into USB so I presume it's a jack that converts the USB plug to a dual USB and stereo jacks, as that is what I would need.

As for Audacity, I think I'll try it again, though I MUST use SAM Broadcasting software to do my radio show, so I have to find a way for Audacity to split the signal then send that to SAM.

Oh the fun!

The best free audio editing/recording/anything program in my opinion is Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

It should work with a USB microphone. The program creates audio files, but it'll require a specific plugin to get it to export mp3 files (weird, eh?) called lame_enc.dll, and you can get it here: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?...

Go to any electronics store and buy a splitter (also called a "Y" connector") that will convert the single connector on the mic into two connectors that will plug into your sound card. Better than a software solution because you actually have 2 signal inputs and can adjust them as desired.

If your sound card only has a single jack for the stereo connection, use a second adapter to merge the 2 leads into a single stereo lead.
