Does a bad grade in organic chemistry affect the chances of getting into pharm school?

I got a B- in Organic Chemistry 1 (freshmen year), a B+ in organic chemistry 2 (sophomore year), and A- in biochemistry (junior year). I also get an A in toxicology. Is a B- in ochem really affect my chances of going into pharmacy school?

Also, should I take a pharmacology course next semster? (I am afraid that if i can't get an A in that class, pharm school is gonna reject me)

Update:

Does it matter which undergrad school i go to?

I got a C in organic chem 1 AND chem 1 and I got into pharmacy school (this was about 4 years ago). There are other factors besides grades that go into the decision of accepting students into pharmacy school. They look at not just your GPA, but also the PCAT, the interview, references, resume, essay, etc. I know some past applicants who did not get in based on the interview alone. Your grades seem pretty good, I wouldn't sweat it out too much. And you don't really need to take a pharmacology course unless you are in a program/degree that requires it. You will get plenty of pharmacology once you get into pharmacy school.

FYI, it is not a huge significant on where you did undergrad. Some of my classmates went to community college for just pre-reqs classes, others got their degrees at the state university.

    I hope this helps.

UCSF and UCLA are quite competitive. The last time I looked on their websites, the statistics were around 3.8-4.0 GPA and over 32 MCAT scores. A lot of med schools have websites where they publish student demographics so I would google med schools you are interested in. Since you are still a freshman in high school, you'll still have a long way to go. For now, I would concentrate on taking AP classes and preparing for the SAT/ACT. Once you're admitted into a university, open a case with your pre-professional health office (or other advising offices) and get help with what classes you need to take and letters of reference.

You need to look at a pharmacy school website and their requirements... those are the classes that they look at. You do not need to take anything you do not need, just what's on the list of the schools you are applying to. They base your gpa on those classes also they look at your overall.

    Here's an example :

    http://www.temple.edu/pharmacy/prerequisite.htm

Those are the prerequisites that this school requires you to have complete by the time you apply or will be in completion by the time you graduate. You would need to have a high GPA in those classes overall as well as a high gpa overall in your other studies. Also, don't forget your PCAT scores - they matter a lot !

I would just recommend calling the pharmacy school and ask! Sometimes classes are formed based on previous grades, an entrance exam or both. Find out what the acceptance criteria are and then act accordingly..good luck!

Probably because they (like any other school) analyze the complete dossier, just try to keep high grades.
