  • How can I contribute to the gay community?

I am a junior majoring in infectious disease. I am thinking about volunteering in organizations such as the AIDS foundation or the Stop AIDS project. Is it a good idea? However, I dont know if I should do this because I dont have any sexual experience (but I do know lots about AIDS). Any ideas?

Or, what other organizations can I volunteer to? I am not good at writing, but I am good at math and science-related field.

  • Homosexuality as a form of personality?

Do you see our sexual orientation as one of our traits (personality)?

If we see homosexuality as one of our personalities, does it mean that we can change our sexual orientation with enough training (since we can change our personality, but we have to try hard to change our personality)? Also, does it mean that the environment that we live in also contribute to our sexual orientation (in addition to genetics...)?

  • how do you calculate negative log of a number?

like, -log(3.2). I know it's not simply the negative of log (3.2). I am calculating the IC50 of a compound, and the pIC50 is the -log(IC50). However, the IC50 of a compound is 3.2, but the pIC50 is 5.49. Any thoughts?

  • How do ants know how to work together like human do?

Ants often work together to carry food in and out of some places. That means they must know how to communicate with each other and tell each others what to do (like human do in team work). So, how do ants communicate with each other and form a community? Do they communicate through touching with each other or sending some signals to each others?

  • Gay or not?

I am a guy and love to watch gay porn (and admire the male body and all that), but I don't want to have a romantic relationship with guys. In other words, I want to have sex with guys, but I love girls... Any thoughts?

  • Does a bad grade in organic chemistry affect the chances of getting into pharm school?

I got a B- in Organic Chemistry 1 (freshmen year), a B+ in organic chemistry 2 (sophomore year), and A- in biochemistry (junior year). I also get an A in toxicology. Is a B- in ochem really affect my chances of going into pharmacy school?

Also, should I take a pharmacology course next semster? (I am afraid that if i can't get an A in that class, pharm school is gonna reject me)

  • What are some good reading materials for gay teens?

to learn about the "gay culture or the lifestyle", or any other great books that you guys recommend (no bible, playgirl, or freshmen, please!)

  • Is it possible to be gay and homophobic?

I am gay, but I don't really want to interact with gay people. Is it wrong? I am not sure why I don't wanna hang out with them (well... I am guessing it is the negative stereotypes of being gays). I have actually hang out with some gay guys, and I feel like I never fit in their group. And some of their behaviors and attitude really disgust me. I have came out to some of my friends, but I have never came out to gay people (i am quite sure the friends that i came out to aren't gay, but not 100% sure). Is there something wrong with me for being homophobic?

  • Why are people so obsess with organic food?

I believed organic food are more harmful than "non-organic" food. Organic food uses natural pesticides (e.g, the natural toxins made by plants) rather than the synthetic one. However, natural pesticides can be more dangerous (and may prehap cause more cancer). Furthermore, the quality of organic food sometimes are worse than "non-organic" food because natural pesticides are sometimes not effective (but they are way more expensive than non-organic food). So, why does everyone prefer organic food?

  • Should I do it?

I know that most (gay) guys always prefer a huge one, but...

I am small. I have seriously considered to have a surgery on it, is it worth it? That's one of the reasons why I don't want to have a relationship with a guy (among many other things). I kind of know the risk that I have to go through (i am a pre-med). I know that most guys do care their partner's size. I don't know what to do!

  • Is there such a thing as "gay christian"?

I think they kind of contradict each other somehow. If there is "gay christian", can they have gay relationships and have gay sex? Or would the church be against it? (please don't quote the bible, or quote something from another site)

  • Should I study pharmacy or medicine?

I am a junior and I don't know what should I study. I thought that I would like pharmacy (and have volunteered in the pharmacy department and got a pharm tech cert.), but I don't really like the stuff that I learn in my toxicology class (I am gonna take a pharmacology class next semster and see what happens there). I find that physiology and other biology stuff are more interesting than the stuff that I learned in my toxicology class. However, wouldn't it be too late if I wanna study medicine? I mean, I am a junior and I havent volunteered in any medical office or something like that. Or should I just stick to pharmacy?
