Why are people so obsess with organic food?

I believed organic food are more harmful than "non-organic" food. Organic food uses natural pesticides (e.g, the natural toxins made by plants) rather than the synthetic one. However, natural pesticides can be more dangerous (and may prehap cause more cancer). Furthermore, the quality of organic food sometimes are worse than "non-organic" food because natural pesticides are sometimes not effective (but they are way more expensive than non-organic food). So, why does everyone prefer organic food?

Update:

No... those synthetic ones have been extensively tested (by FDA) so that it is extremely safe for human (and non organic food does not mean that it has dyes!).

Update 2:

For example, copper sulphate and rotenone, which are approved for organic food pesticide, are shown to cause liver damage and Parkinson disease recently (but rarely in synthetic pesticide). Moreover, it is shown that the nutritional value of organic food is lower than that of non-organic food.

those synthetic ones you like so well have some very bad side effects for some people and for most they do not just come out of your system.

Another reason to want organic or all natural is to cut down on dye, preservatives and additives.

the average American eats 4 pds of dye a year and it does not just leave your system which is why in our standard life style for most people death starts in the colon.

the top one is a very good site on the pros and cons of both.

You may be right about what you say. But just because something has been tested extensively by the FDA does not mean it is safe. The FDA does allow hormones in milk, and even steroids in meat. These things are in no way necessary to be in the food. Therefore, it is worth noting that when it comes to generic food the FDA is willing to let some things slide for sake of big business and the economy.

In addition, it is worth noting that the organic label is administered by the FDA. So if you believe that the FDA does well with generic food by means of its extensive testing, I do not see why you would not think it does well with organic food as well.

Well the answer to your question is very simple... the natural toxins found in nature.. you body knows how to break down, but in the case of industrial chemical your body cannot break down and it just accumulates in your body.

Every culture has its own psychopathology and one of America's is our neurosis about food. Nowhere else in the world do you find the same levels of anorexia, bulimia, vegetarianism, fat-phobia, laws banning certain foods, and the never ending health-craze fads like low-carb diets, the raw food movement, etc. etc. etc.

Organic food is just the latest symptom of America's issues with food.

It's marketed to people as more healthy, but I really doubt it. Just like people believe bottled water and oxygen bars and anti-bacterial lotion is good for you.
