The scariest movie that I have ever seen was Pumpkin Head. The Pumpkin head is really freaky looking. When I watched it I was with my mom and just as the Pumpkin Head made his kill, we thought we seen someone go past our window in the living room. I nearly crapped my pants.

Jesus Camp, eh? I'll have to check it out. The Grudge was pretty scary, special effects wise, but I still think the classic The Legend of Hell House (starring Roddy McDowell) was the best ghost movie. Lots of movies are gross, like Saw, but it's more shock value than being actually scary. I think supernatural movies are truly the scariest.

The Resident Evil and 28 Days movies are like a two-fer because you have that scary virus AND zombies.

I think the movies that could really happen are the scariest. I used to come down to the beach to visit my sister and a couple of times I brought friends with me. The night before we would go to the beach, my brother-in-law would always show Jaws. My friends would never get in the water and he would just laugh and tell them on the way home that you didn't need to worry about sharks but barracudas. And then he would show the movie Barracuda. I never go into the water without thinking of Jaws and it has been years and years since I've seen it. And even today when I see Jaws II and that girl is trying to get in the boat before the shark gets her, I find my feet still moving right along with her. The movie isn't freaky, it's possible.

The Exorcist is a classic. Also, The Shining is really scary in a more psychological kind of way.

For sure the Exorcist scared me, but "City of God" about the gangs and crime in Brazil was a an extremely scary reminder of what can happen when crime takes over!

Failsafe with Henry Fonda & Larry Hagman. Scary because it could happen.

The original 'Night of the Living Dead'. Especially if you're 7 years old and watching it late at night, like I did many years ago.
