I have been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, but after all kinds of tests, everything came out OK;?

I am still having pains in my chest, and now my cardiologist is saying maybe it's my esophagus. Has anyone else had a similar problem, or do you know what else the problem could be? (serious inquiries only, please)

Update:

yes, I have serious breathing problems, even when I barely move around. All the tests were done at one of the best heart hospitals in Chicago (Loyola). I want to stick with Loyola, but I'll have to try getting some different kinds of tests (maybe an upper or lower GI test).

Pains in chest may have several causes-

The most important and potentially dangerous cause is obstruction of blood vessels supplying heart itself [coronary atherosclerosis or thrombosis].. which will cause some heart tissue to die.. this associaes with sorness of breath and severe chest pain. CHF can come as complication.

Oher causes of chest pain with CHF like features include-

    1. Lung disorders and pleuritis

    2. Reflux disease [reflux esophagitis, Or hiatus hernia]

    3. Dissesction aneurysm in aorta

    .....

For u I`ll suggest u to go for two tests at least, to get rid of your diagnosis zeopardy.

    1. have an ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY

    2. have a BARIUM MEAL XRAY of esophagus and gastroesophageal junction

I also was diagnosed with congestive heart failure,do you have breathing problems along with your other symtoms?

IF I was not satisfied with my answers to my problem, from my recent visit to my dr. I think a second opinion would be in order, because there are all kinds of symtoms that only a professional can answer.Having a s econd opinion doesn't hurt.and could save your life.

If you have heart failure (the doctors diagnosed this!), and pains in your chest, they need to find the cause.

Esophagitis can cause severe burning, boring, even radiating pain that feels like a heart attack.

Esophagitis does not cause heart failure!

It does not explain why you have heart failure, and that needs to be addressed.

Get a second opinion, from the best cardiologist you can find. One of the great docs I know came from Northwestern U. Call there for a referral.

Call anywhere, but get a second opinion.

Agree that you need another opinion.

One does NOT have CHF for no reason.

It could be heart disease, valvular disease, or pulmonary hypertension. Many other direct/ indirect causes.

If you are still having pain, this is serious.

Yes, esophagitis can feel and look the same as heart attack (heart attack can be ruled out by serial enzymes).

However, you STILL have diagnosed CHF which comes from some problem.

    Get the second opinion.

Go to another cardiologist or go to Cook County.

One of the best heart surgeons I ever knew worked at Cook for decades.

Get appt with Chief of Cardiology at Cook or somewhere else.

I don't understand why they are not helping you at Loyola; it is either an inexperienced doctor, or a bad department. Another thing: They may be stalling and not doing thallium scan because of a shortage of the isotope (therefore you don't have a proper diagnosis as to cause).
