This is an open question. Depends on what you are looking for? Usually it is really easy to get good deals directly from the airlines. I used to work at an airport and always found great deals directly from United or American. Do you want a round trip or one way? Lay-over or straight flight?
When it comes to cost, you get what you pay for. Plain and simple. My wife and I flew a colleague out using one of those fare finding groups like expedia and had significant issues in getting his flight arranged correctly. and he had significant lay-over times. and had to leave at 6am which meant he had to be at the airport at around 4am. Booking a flight well in advance will also guarantee a lower cost as well usually.
When it comes to your answer the best advice I can give you is this. Research Research Research. Look into all airlines and see what you can get. Good Luck
