Helpful advice from all of you computer gurus out there.?

I need some helpful advice. I have Road Runner wireless and it seems like lately, I either have low strength or no connection and I am constantly having internet interruptions, which causes a major headache with the work that I do. I work at home, but the internet is not the responsibility of my employer. I have wireless because there is no cable jack in the spare bedroom. I live in an apartment, so putting one in is out of the question. Is there any other options or hints of things that I can do first before calling the cable company in?

It would help if you could be more specific as to what you have installed. Do you have a cable modem from road runner that doubles as a wireless router, or some other type of service? If you have a router, does it have ethernet ports? If it has ethernet ports, do you have the same problem when you use a wired connection as when you use a wireless connection? What type of wireless connection does the router provide (802.11b, g, or draft-n?) What type of wireless card do you have in your PC? If you could edit the question with more specifics it would be very helpful.

depending on what router you are using, you may be able to turn up the power, which would provide you with a stronger signal. If you cant, then purchase a WRT54G form Linksys, which will allow you to (once upgraded to Alchemy Firmware). This will easily fix your problem. You other option is to run Ethernet all the way over, which will also solve your problem.
