Doing such things in any case is illegal. Specially Music industry is very noisy about law. But if you download from youtube by using any source for personal purpose then not a big deal though it is still illegal.

possibly, but its not like there gonna throw you in the slammer for doing this, I mean like how many people have been caught from downloading music from limewire? maybe like 10...out of a couple million, no worries.

Well it is illegal in a sense, as you are downloading people's copyrighted material, although I don't really think that the cops are gonna pull up at your driveway and arrest you. There is a great program out there that can convert Youtube videos into all sorts of formats, including MP4 (iPod, PSP)

It doesn't leave a watermark and is perfect quality

yes, it is illegal, I have purchased moyea flv to video converter for a long time, now, it contains a free flv downloader, It will be downloaded youtube video in flv format - then convert it to AVI or WMV,MP4 for inserting into powerpoint, iPod Zune,PSP, ..
