I just got my Ipod...?

I just got a 4 gig nano. I have put 8 songs onto it=25 mb. Why does it say I only have 3.68 gigs left? Shouldn't I have more room?

Update:

Great answers so far...

Question 2.

No. Most devices only get between 90%-97% of the storage they're marketed for, due to the formating of the data.

3.68 gigs is a lot. 25 mb is not the same as 25 gigs, gigs is much larger. You have a lot of space left. if you don't understand what i'm saying, at the bottom of your update itunes screen it'll give you a visual of how much space is left on your ipod.

Its says right on the packaging that unformatted space is 4 gig

but with formatting and the OS, actual memory is less than 4 gig

they advrertise 4 GB...but in real life...ther is a little less MB less in it...they do it so you will go out and buy another ipod...when you run out of room...dont worry though..you have a lot of more room for songs and videos....and 7 MB isnt that much...so just enjoy your ipod....Happy New Year

it depends on how long the songs are. but you should have more room on it the 4 gig should hold up to1,000 songs.

Source(s): try calling 1-800-my-apple it is the ipod help line. if you want to go straight to the nano help line try 1-800-275-2273

I went through the same thing and all they answers are correct. You will never have full amount of space due to os.

well the songs might just take up a ton of room or it is a bug. I would take it to the apple store for a checkup
