Name the best NFL quarterbacks all time and how do you rate these guys?
My favorites along with others who are considered great quarterbacks. O.K. here are my top 3 quarterbacks all time: John Elway, Warren Moon, and Jim Kelly, (Ben Roelisthberger is my current favorite.) O.K. now, here are the list of others along with my list and rate them how you think they were the best all time from best to least best.
John Elway, Warren Moon, Jim Kelly, Joe Montana, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Johnny Unitas, Joe Nammoth, Terry Bradshaw, Fran Tarkenton, Bob Griese, Ken Stabler, Dan Fouts, Steve Young, and Troy Aikman. From Greatest to least greatest. In my personal opinion, I think that Joe Montana or John Elway is the best. Montana beat Elway out, Elway beat Favre out. Montana had the greatest receiver of all time too though. Hmmm? I'm going to say John Elway. Warren Moon is definitely on the list. Moon's 521 passing yards NFL single game record. Jim Kelly 4 Super Bowl appearances is damn good!

1.John Elway - although if you look at the stats in the middle of his carer they look average, you have to realize there was absolutely nothing around him in those years, yet still managed to lead his team to the super bowl time and time again. When he finally got some real guys around him, the magic was flowing at **** best and ended up with 2 super bowl victories. so 2/5 aint bad. He holds the following Records for the broncos
* Most Total Offensive Yards: 54,882 yards (51,475 passing, 3,407 rushing)
* Most Total Touchdowns: 334 (300 passing, 33 rushing, 1 receiving)
* Most Total Plays: 8,027
* Winning Percentage: .643 (148-82-1)
* Most Career Passing Yards: 51,475
* Most Career Completions: 4,123
* Most Career Attempts: 7,250
* Most Touchdown Passes: 300
2.Joe Montana-Joe cool, would be my number 1 except he constantly had superior talent around him than elway did. He was a 4 time super bowl champ, a 3 time NFL Mvp, and a 3 Time Super bowl MVp. He finished with 40000 yards, 273 touchdown and a career 63 percent completion rate.
3.Brett Favre-FAre is the ultimate gunslinger and he has the stats to prove it. FAvre is the career leader in Touchdowns wit h 442 and passing yardage with over 60,000 shattering the other two guys above him in terms of stats. HE was also a 3 time NFL MVP and has started 253 games and has the most wins by a starting QB with a 160. The only reason he is not 1 or 2 is because he only won one SB in 17 years.
4.Dan MArino-Until 2004, Dan marino held the rock down in almost every single passing catagory there is. But now that peyton manning and brett facre has surpassed his records, he slips a little bit because of the fact that he never won as much as the other guys on this list.
5.Johnny Unitas-When the Golden arm was retiring, he was probably the greatest QB to ever play this game. What is even more impressive is the fact that although he played in a run happy era his stats are still good compared to the modern era. He had over 40000 yards, and 293 TDs and was a 4 time NFL MVP despite being a 9th round pick by the colts out of louisville.
6.Tom Brady-When its all said and Done The Golden Boy Brady will likely be number 1. Having won 3 super bowls and on a psycopathical drive to win another one, tom is the ultimate one, and his stats were always great before this year and now they are mind blowing, having broken peyton manning;s single season TD record of 49. In 7 years of starting, he has 197 touchdowns and only 86 picks along with 26370 passing yards and a 63 percent completion rate. oh did i mention the 3 super bowl wins in 4 years.
7.Jim Kelly-In his prime, jim kelly was about as big as a big time QB could get/ Although he had slightly high interception numbers, he was always a threat to break a long rush never having less than a 145 yards rushing a year. He finished with 237 Touchdowns and is the buffalo bills passing leader and a 2 time USFL mvp.
8.Warren Moon
9.Randall Cunningham
10.Terry Bradshaw
11.Steve young
12.Frank Tarkenton
13.Troy Aikman
14.DAn Fouts
15.Ken Stabler
16.Bob Griese.
189.Joe namath-Joe namath was a bad qb and is only famous for making that super bowl guarantee and living a high life. The fact is he threw 37 more interceptions than touchdowns in his career and only had 2 seasons where he threw for more touchdowns than he did interceptions and had only 2 seasons where he completed over 52 % of his throws. basically joe namath was trash

1. Unitas - Here's why: When Walsh revolutionized pro football, he started calling all the plays for his QB's. Same with any coach that used his system or any variation of it. When plays come in from the sideline, it takes much of the pressure of the QB to decide in the huddle what to call. All they have to do is execute. Unitas was the best signal caller, game planner, strategist in the game. And he was a winner.
2. Montana - and not just because of his 4 SBs. He was a winner at every level: HS, College, NFL. Like Joe Thiesman said, he won early, he won late, he won healthy, he won hurt. He was meant to be a QB.
3. Steve Young - Just by statistics alone, he is the highest rated passer of all time. The formula is complex, but I'm glad it is, because the designers understand that there's more to being a QB than wins and loses.
4. Dan Marino - At the time of his retirement, he was the most accomplished, but he also made people better around him. He played on so many bad teams with no running back but his early years were like no other.
5. John Elway - here's another one who brought teams to the Super Bowl that had no business being there.
6. Roger Staubach - Another field general who was probably the most competitive QB of his day.
7. Favre - Competitive and accomplished. If he called his own plays like Staubach or Unitas, I'd have ranked him higher.
8. Dan Fouts - He was the epitome of a field general, but I think he was aided by a great cast in Joiner, Chandler, Winslow, Jefferson, Muncie.

I would have to say best QB of all-time would be Joe Montana. There are many great QB's like Elway, Unitas, Jurgenson, Bradshaw & there are some playing today like Manning & Brady who are both will be in that category when their careers are up as well as Brett Favre who is in that category already.

I usually like to sound objective and had you asked this even two weeks ago i would have said all time favorite was Montana but I have to say it is Brady now.
I simply get to see every play this guy makes and for that it puts him ahead of Montana. When all is said and done I think Brady's body of work will be unmatched too.
