Has anyone ever tried the new Biorb aquariums? How well do they work?

They are supposed to be low maintenance and I'm trying to find out if this is really so.

its got a nice filtration system and replacements are expensive. you also have to buy specialized everything for it -- so it gets expensive fast. while it looks good i would get a marineland eclipse kit if you want a good looking aquarium instead. they come in several different sizes.

all tanks need weekly partial water changes and gravel vacuums --- if that means low maintenance then all tanks with filters are low maintenance.

The bio-orb is suitable for a male betta or a single shoal of 6 tetras ~ perhaps. Anything else is beyond the capability of the filtration system.

If it's for a goldfish - forget it! Too small, inadequate filtration, not enough swimming space - for goldies, it's death in a bowl.

Like Lindsay said, they are very limited space wise, but also they are extremely hard to clean in my experience, gravel syphons barely fit and magnetic algae scrubbers don't work.

Go for a nice cube shaped one of the same size and you'll have more options.
