In Iowa it is kind of like a town hall meeting. Citizens get together and vote for their first choice as President, if their first choice doesn't receive 15% of the vote of that district, then that voter gets to choose their second choice of the candidates who had received at least 15% of the vote.
I think this is a great way to select a candidate that the majority of voters can rally behind. It is kind of similar to how people were elected in the early days of our government.

A caucuses is nothing more than party to decide who they are gonna to support. For example if Clinton and Thompson wins Iowa. The Democrats will support Clinton and the GOP will support Thompson. They will then travel hot states. Whoever wins the most states get the President ticket for there party.
