Wireless internet service?

I'm not familiar with this, but my mom wants wireless internet service in NJ. I know her laptop already has built-in wireless connection, or does she need a separate wireless card to be provided by a wireless internet service provider? How much it will cost her? Can you please recommend a good WISP based on quality of service and cheap cost? Thanks!

I live in NJ and use Verizon Wireless service. It is about $50/month and they give a PCMCIA card for the laptop. I think they also make USB cards too. The connection speed is about 400kbps. Can use this wireless broadband anywhere. Good connection everywhere. Works good. I use this when I am out on the road at work.

Sprint has this wireless service. I think AT&T might also too. If you already have cell phone service with whatever provider, the wireless broadband plan may be cheaper if you buy it through them.

The built-in wireless she has on the laptop is only for WiFi or wireless routers in your home, office, aiport, starbucks, or hotels. When she is not in these locations that have WiFi access, then she would need the Verizon card.

Your mom will need to sign up to an Internet Service Provider, like AOL or Pipex, to connect her laptop to the Internet. They will provide a small device that will connect using a wire to the Internet via a standard telephone point. She will need a router/modem to get wireless connection to the laptop, but she will need to initially connect the device to the laptop via a cable (one is always supplied with the device). Instructions will be supplied with the modem, but make sure you set the security options (e.g. WPA using TKIP as the encryption technique -- this is the method of hiding your password).

You will need to get a wireless router and connect it to your Cable/DSL modem. The router comes with a setup disk and idiot proof instructions. Don't cheap out on the router though you should buy the one thats worth around $100. If you buy the cheap ones you will notice lower speeds and a very limited range.

Well you would have to contact a cell phone provider for wireless internet or you can get a wireless adapter to coincide with your cable modem for wireless surfing.

ATT, sprint, and Verizon are offering a cellular internet service which suits in lots of places. each and every plans to have countrywide coverage yet none to now. verify with all 3 and notice which one now promises service the place you're likely to be and this would in superb condition the invoice.
