    Not Exactly.

    + Descended in "Hell" +

The Catholic Church believes that those who die never hearing of Christ but have sought the truth and does the will of God as they understand it can be saved. See Romans 2:13-16.

If they died before Jesus died for our sins and opened the gates of heaven for us, then they waited in what is called in the Old Testament Abraham's bosom or Sheol.

Catholics believe that after Jesus died on the cross, he descended into Sheol, the place of the dead. While there He freed the holy souls who awaited their savior in Abraham's bosom.

So Noah, Abraham, Moses, the Prophets, and even Adam and Eve may be in heaven.

    + Limbo +

The Church has pondered the suggestion of Limbo for a few hundred years and has decided that it is not a good idea. Limbo was never official doctrine.

Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved." (Mark 16:15-16)

For centuries, people have wondered about children who died before they were baptized. The Bible does not explicitly state that they will go to heaven.

Limbo was suggested as the place where unbaptized babies went when they died. This idea was never official Church doctrine and has been rejected.

The Church now says that it is not sure what happens to unbaptized babies when they die but she entrusts them to the mercy of God.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church section 1261: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt2sect2.htm#1...

    + With love in Christ.

Hell still exists and yes limbo was considered "hell light"because eternal exclusion from the beatific vision is hell - and is still a viable theological opinion.-it has never been anything else. Limbus puerorum was considered by St Thomas to be a place of natural happiness but no supernatural bliss. St Augustine was more somber and said it was plain hell.

limbus means limit or border so it would be the border of hell the outmost part.

Did you know that there's no place in the Bible that says anything about a place called limbo. Or that some people might go there for some reason or another. I dare anyone to find it for me in the Bible and e-mail it to me. You just won't find it anywhere. The Catholics made this up. God says in the last book of the Bible that no man should add or take away from his word. [ The Bible ] This is what the Catholics do and always have done.

Limbo was never an official doctrine of the Catholic Church, and Limbo is not the same as Hell.

Do a read of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and really learn what and why Catholics believe.

    Peace!

Limbo was never Hell - it was just a place where the unbaptized would go that was in between Heaven and Hell.

Limbo and Hell are two completely different things.

In theological usage the name is applied to (a) the temporary place or state of the souls of the just who, although purified from sin, were excluded from the beatific vision until Christ's triumphant ascension into Heaven (the "limbus patrum"); or (b) to the permanent place or state of those unbaptized children and others who, dying without grievous personal sin, are excluded from the beatific vision on account of original sin alone (the "limbus infantium" or "puerorum").

Hell is the grave and limbo was never a doctrine. This is just another Anti Catholic question from someone who hates the true church Jesus Christ established. Everytime you spout your hate and lies against the church you also spout them at Jesus Christ.

Yes He went to Abraham's Bosom to preach his Gospel and He came back with many walking the earth from the times of Old. He then visited on Earth to show Himself Risen from the dead and in front of 500 witnesses He ascended into Heaven ! This first rapture is reported in only one place in the Bible. Once again David Very ver good answer.
