you need internet connection etherel wires if you want to be wired
A modem no matter what either wireless or wired
if wireless then a wireless adaptor on your xbox or playstation
and an online membership usually about $50 a year

You need DSL or anything faster than dial-up. Then you hook up your ethernet cable into the back of your console.
