Are 1990-1993 Honda Accords good cars to start off with?

im 16 goin on 17 n getting my license in 2 months and im saving $$$$ for a car. My price range is anything under $2500. i was thinking of paying off cash for a 1990-1993 honda accord cause civics are wayyyy to burned out amogst the young crowd(i know accords are kinda too). i just wanna know if they are good cars to start off with through the eyes of someone whose older with more experience.

Thanks=)

Update:

I live in the LA area (San Gabriel Valley area) and id mostly just be using it for driving to school and sometimes joyrides so id use alot of freeways

Update 2:

sry but i also noticed that most 90-93 accords for sell have over 100,000 miles in thme so would they still be good cars?

    the mileage is not the problem if find one that has records of maint. being performed. AND YOU KEEP IT UP ALSO! Change the oil often and fix leaks as they occur. Look for one that has had the timing belt done as that is the death of many older Hondas. People get the 70K one done then forget to do it again at 140K around 190K POP, ruined engine. Also don't buy a olde car thats been driven easy then throw exhaust and intake on and start driving it hard. It's going to be tired. They will still last a long time tired but only when treated with a light touch bearings and rings are worn no matter how well it's been taken care of, don't push your luck. However a 150 to 200K miles car can still have a lot of life left.

    Here's the deal! If the Accord has proper maintenance, 100,000 miles is not that bad. I'd take a guess and say you could get an additional 50,000+ miles out of that car. However, check for rust, especially around the wheel wells. Ask the owner where he/she had the car serviced and ask for the service records. Also look at the interior for wear and tear. That will tell you how well the owner took care of the car. I've had 4 Honda Accords and all of them were and are excellent vehicles. Good luck.

    I'd go for a 94-97 Accord. I sold mine and it was running very well at 135,000 miles. I put a lot of highway on that car as I was account executive - did my own regular detailing (inside & out). Did show the trademark rusting near the right side rear tire well - but I drove it 5 yrs in the Northeast (snow, treated roads, etc). The Accord I had prior to that was still great at 145,000 - had only replaced the clutch at 130,000.

    I would look at people selling it who are the original owner, and took good care of it. I kept all my maintenance records, and handed them over to the next owner. Once you drive it, you'll get a feeling if it doesn't drive well, tires, etc. Be sure to ask if it has been in accident, etc. Run a carfax on it.

    I have a '93 Accord with 200,000 and still looks sharp. If you treat it right, they will last a very long time. Let's put it this way -- where can you go on Kelley Blue Book and find a car that is nearly 20 years old and have to pay $2500 for it! Your car if in good shape will still be able to get 20+ mpgs, be stylish for your needs and above all else -- reliable.

    I can speak from experience as I drive a 93 EX sedan everyday to LA from Orange County. It has over 200k on it and never ever had a problem with it. I bought it from a friend who neglected it as I was always the one telling him to do this and that to maintain it. Needless to say I had enough and gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. In most cases it still gets over 30mpg and around 28 mpg city/traffic. Great car, and has a great following

    My first car in high school was a 1991 Accord Coupe. That was 7 years ago and I'm still driving it today! I'm getting ready to get a newer Accord right now!

    Short answer.. YES YES YES!!!

    That was a nice looking body style. It would absolutely be a great first car. Just be sure to get one that is stock. You don't want one that has been modified, it will have been beat on. Try to get an EX Coupe with a 5 speed, they are very rare but worth looking for.

    The Accord will give you good service. Don't buy one from a kid ( they run the heck out of them ), try to buy one from an old person.

    Keep the oil changed regularly and it should last a long time. It would not be unusal for you to be able to put up to 175,00 to 190,000 reliable miles on it.

    I know someone who has a 1991 Accord with 250,000 miles on it... if that helps you see how long they last. Honda is one of the most reliable makes around so I'd recommend one.

    yes. parts are plenty and cheap just in case you need repairs or modifications. just make sure you thoroughly inspect the car and get a good example. honda accords are very good cars but if you buy a used, salvaged, wrecked car then dont expect it to be problem free...
