I know that it needs a new tranny mount...is that part of the cause or is it in the transmission.

That could be causing your problem or you could also have a bent shift fork inside the transmission.

uh, no. this is a serious problem and it is clear that your transmission is in need of significant work. get it in FAST to an authorized service shop. (john's alfa in LA, CA is the best) before the entire transmission drops out.
