Atheist Adoptions?

This is an update and clarification, and not really a question. The previous question regarding the court decision in the Atheist adoption case from 1970 neglected to point out that the case was overturned in 1971 with the NJ Supreme Court finding specifically that you can NOT deny adoption solely on the basis of belief or non-belief in any religion or supreme being. This really isn't an issue these days...

It points to a larger issue, regardless of whether the case was overturned or not. Thanks for the informative update, BTW.

There are still many laws on the books in many states limiting the rights of atheists to hold certain government positions, bear witness in court, etc.

On the authority of Abdullah bin Abbas, who said : One day I was behind the prophet and he said to me:

"Young man, I shall teach you some words [of advice] : Be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him in front of you. If you ask, ask of Allah; if you seek help, seek help of Allah. Know that if the Nation were to gather together to benefit you with anything, it would benefit you only with something that Allah had already prescribed for you, and that if they gather together to harm you with anything, they would harm you only with something Allah had already prescribed for you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried."

Nor should it be an issue. It saddens me that people would be so intolerant that they would deny other Americans their basic rights of freedom of religion.
