Which setting will dry faster?

The dryer in my apartment has three setting knit/gentle, regular/heavy, and permanent press and i was wondering if the permanent press will dry my clothes faster than the regular heavy which i usually have to run through twice. also similar settings on the washer which one washes most thoroughly? thanks in advance for any help you can give a poor guy who dont know much about laundry.

The regular / heavy cycle is designed for the higher temp stuff. It puts out the most heat.

The permanent press feature must have a cooling cycle, more so than the reg/heav, so that would take more time.
