ian this is just a thought. if you are flying into john lennon airport, there is a regular bus service to and from piccadilly manchester, i think its £6 return. from picadilly train station its a small walk to get the metro out to salford.

Try the Megabus, its cheap but not sure if it runs from Liverpool to Manchester.

If you get the train to Piccadilly, you can get a seperate train that runs only to Old trafford.

    Very easy and great

    Hi

    As said check out www.merseyrail.co.uk

and if staying in a hotel go for one nearby Lime Street station, great greasy spoon just around the corner to set you up for the day.

I would stay in Manchester, much nicer, and safer, than Liverpool.
