Ford 7.3 diesel MPG?

OK, I just purchased (for almost nothing) a 1993 F350 single cab long bed single rear wheel 7.3 diesel (non turbo) automatic truck.

What kind of gas mileage should I expect with this setup? I know its slow, but luckily I've owned chevy 6.2 and turbo 6.5 diesels lol!

I guess you have the E4OD tranny, so my experience probably isn't quite the same, but I had a 1989 7.3 regular cab 2wd years ago with an automatic (C-6, three-speed no overdrive) and I got about 12 out of it. It was geared really, really low, though. Hope yours does better than that! I love those old 7.3 engines, before the "PowerSmoke" came out!

I have a brother who owns a Manual 88 F-250 7.3 IDI. And that thing is quite peppy.

And gets about 15-18 MPG. Average is about 17.

But those things are pretty solid when treated right, Good luck mate.

93 should have the 4eod tranny in it. id say somwere in the nieborhood of 15-18 mpg depending on the gear ratio. my 88 idi with the 3spd auto, 4x4, low rear end, banks turbo + pump turned up higher than the banks setting gets about 13 mpg mabye 14 at best.

As long as you don't get hard on the gas (pardon the expression) most of them that Friends have do 15 MPG easy..

If I remember, they are closer to 18 however on highway

It is rated at 17 miles per gallon
