2000 Dodge Dakota will not start...WHY?
I have a dakota pickup and it will not start. I get in turn the key and all i hear is "click". Battery is good, charging system good, starter good. What could the problem be. I have taken it to two seperate mechanics and they cannot find a problem with it. What could it be?
There is no problem with the battery cables etc. The whole charging system has been checked twice now. The engine is also not flooded. Sometimes the truck will start and run for months at a time before it stops starting again...Also note that sometimes if I can get it to starts, it runs fine until I turn it off again.
it is an automatic if that helps anyone.

could not find a problem? you mean it started for them? is it a standard or automatic if it is a standard check your clutch switch if it is an automatic check your prndl switch. check your battery connections if you know its a good starter and battery then that leaves wires and switches. it is pretty straight foreward.

Wiring. follow every wire make sure all fusible links are good.
I don't know if it would hurt this truck to cross over the starter but I'm sure a good garage could do it.
