Any information on Julia Sopha (married name)?

Hello :) I'm working on genealogy research right now and am unable to find any more information on my great-grandmother. I'm going through the 1930s census, page by page, but haven't found anything yet. If anyone knows anything or would be kind enough to use a paid site they have a subscription to, I would appreciate it! Here are her details:

Julia Sopha (maiden name *possibly* Albert)

Born: January 29, 1903 in Germany

Died: June 25, 1968 in Columbus, Ohio (Franklin County)

Married Arthur Sopha, uncertain of the year

I am also uncertain what year she came over from Germany.

She had one daughter in 1928, Helen Lucille who is still alive, and one son, Robert, who died less than a year old in 1926.

If you need anything else, I would be happy to help! Thank you!!!

Update:

While I know information has been brought up to the contrary, I remembered the source for her possible maiden name. The cemetery burial records at Greenlawn in Columbus list her father as a Michael Albert. Very frustrating!

Update 2:

Okay, I e-mailed the Franklin Co. Probate Court to see what they could do. As my flight leaves early tomorrow, there's no way I'll be able to physically go in there until March, possibly May. Still, I'm glad to have it as a lead :-) Though I still can't find that page in the census despite all that information... but the way I'm browsing is kind of badly set up.

Also, my mom told me that she very vaguely remembers an Uncle Albert up in her family that might have lived in Florida. Not exactly concrete, but I figured I'd pass it along.

I cannot express how much I appreciate everyone looking into this for/with me. I've been stuck on this twig of the tree for almost two years now.

Here's the 1930 census on her:

    1930 United States Federal Census

    about Julia Sopha

    Name: Julia Sopha

Home in 1930: Columbus, Franklin, Ohio

    Age: 26

    Estimated Birth Year: abt 1904

Relation to Head of House: Wife

    Spouse's Name: Arthur

    Occupation:

    Age at first marriage:

    Household Members: Name Age

    Arthur Sopha 26

    Julia Sopha 26

    Helen Lucile Sopha 1 6/12

    Albert Ludwick 23

She was born in Bavaria and came over in 1923. She married about 1925/26 at the age of 22.

To pull it up, it's in Columbus, Franklin OH, ED: 20-46

    Ward 6, Block 98, page 20B

I checked immigration records. There's nothing in the entire 20th century for a Julia Albert (nor any "sound alike" spelling) born within 2 years of 1903. BUT...it's probable that you can find the information you need by pulling her marriage license in Franklin Co. You've got an good estimate of the date of marriage and the name of the groom and first name of the bride. With that, you shouldn't have a problem getting a copy of both the marriage license and the marriage license application from the Clerk's office in Franklin Co.

Once you have the maiden name from the marriage license, drop me a note and I'll help you get her INS documents so that you can find out who here parents were and which town she was born in...as well as any family members who also came over. It's not hard to get the docs once you have the name.

Source(s): BTW, the name of the "brother-in-law" on the 1930 census was Albert Ludwick, not Ludwick Albert. So if there's a possible maiden name, it's Ludwick. I checked that in Ellis Island and may have found Albert's records, but would need more information to clarify that it's him. But there's no record of a Jul* Ludw* (wildcard search). The closest is a 42 year old Romanian woman. If you can get that marriage license, it will clear up a load of speculation. There is one big caveat to searching for records under Albert's name to cross reference. There were three Albert Ludwicks all living within 50 miles of each other and all about the same age. So it would be easy to get them confused.

Census of 1930 for Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio

    Roll 1976, Page 20B, Enumeration District 46, Image 393.0

Arthur Sopha, age 26 (b. abt. 1903/04) age at marriage 22 (abt. 1926) Immigrated from Germany in 1912. Occupation: Machinist for Railroad.

Julia Sopha, age 26 (b. 1/29/1903) age at marriage 22 (abt. 1925). Immigrated from Bravaria in 1923.

Daughter. Helen Lucille Sopha, age 1-1/2 (b. Oct. 1928)

Julia's brother (Arthur's brother-in-law) was Albert Ludwick, born abt. 196 and immigrated in 1926.

I looked for immigration information for Julia Ludwick but I didn't find anything. I looked for her brother Albert Ludwick as well and also didn't find anything. By the way, Ludwick is also mispelled Ludwig in many lists.

If you would like to email me through my profile I will send you the image for the 1930 USA census, it says she entered the USA, in 1923. The census return says that Arthur's family and himself were born in Germany and Julia's family including herself were born in Bavaria. They married at age 22 years and they had a daughter Helen Lucille who was registered on the census return. There was also a brother-in-law on the form Ludwick Albert, so I would presume that her maiden name was Albert, Ludwick would have been recorded as brother-in-law as Albert was the head of the household and therefore it would be their relationship that was recorded.
